At only 9 years old, Emma Watson became one of the most famous faces in the world. After leading a relatively ordinary existence, the trajectory of her entire life changed in an instant. And while the mania surrounding Harry Potter has quelled significantly since the release of the final film in 2011, the franchise is still incredibly popular. Furthermore, Watson herself is still wildly famous, boasting millions of fans across the globe.

Since Watson has been in the spotlight for over two decades, she’s learned to manage her immense fame. But what would the Little Women actor do if she could truly go incognito for a full day? In an interview with Time, Watson weighed in on the first thing she would do if she wasn’t famous.

“I guess like just go and stand in the middle of a mosh pit in a rock concert,” Watson declared. “Because I usually can’t get away with that because people tend to recognize me and then things get a little crazy. So you know just like being in the middle of a crowd, yes and just be anonymous.”

While Watson may not be able to dance in the front of the stage at a rock concert without getting recognized, she has some great ways of navigating her constant recognition. One rule she has in place is that she doesn’t take photos or selfies with fans. Though she will often engage them in conversation, the rule helps to keep the Noah alum safe.

“For me, it’s the difference between being able to have a life and not,” Watson shared with Vanity Fair. “If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they’ve created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 meters. They can see what I’m wearing and who I’m with. I just can’t give that tracking data.”

Watson once bought a house that thwarted the papparazzi

As someone who has dealt with stalkers and incessant paparazzi in her career, we’re sure fans can understand Watson’s need for safety. In fact, she once shelled out millions of dollars to purchase a house that she’d never seen in person. After learning that the home had a paparazzi-proof entrance, Watson was sold. Clearly, Watson is willing to pay to protect her privacy. And, considering how famous she is, we fully understand why.
