Emma Watson Once Slapped Someone She Was Dating
For most people, dating has its fair share of challenges. Finding a person who you are attracted to and feel connected to is often no easy feat. But when you’re Emma Watson, there’s an additional layer of potential complications. Thanks to the Harry Potter films, Watson has been ridiculously famous from the young age of nine. Even years after the film franchise ended, the Brit still has one of the most recognizable faces in the world.
So how does Watson approach dating? With her wealth and fame, some people wonder how she’s able to weed through people who are interested in her public persona rather than her. Unlike others in her age bracket, it’s probably not the safest choice for her to use dating apps or go on blind dates. So how is she able to meet potential partners?
Emma Watson explains that she doesn’t let her fame affect her dating life
In an interview with GQ, Watson revealed that she’s found partners the same way many non-famous people do. She’s met past boyfriends through her time at Brown University or because she and her date shared a mutual friend.
“Generally, people I have dated have been friends of friends or people that I have been in a class with,” Watson revealed. “Someone that I have met under circumstances in which we are equals, so the fame thing doesn’t enter the situation.”

Though Watson has had her fair share of successful dates, she’s also had some doozies. One, in particular, that stands out to the Little Women alum involved a man who was keen on making rude and fatphobic comments.
“The worst date I’ve ever been on was a guy who told me he couldn’t be friends with fat people or anyone who was unattractive and I realized pretty quickly that he was a nutter and I had to get out as quickly as I could,” Watson added. “The very worst men are those that say, ‘Are you the girl from Harry Potter?'”

Of course, Watson has had some less than perfect moments herself. The Noah actor confessed that she once hit someone that she was dating. However, she quickly expressed remorse for her behavior. “I have slapped someone,” Watson admitted. “I was very young. I wouldn’t do it again. I’m sorry.”

Watson may be extraordinarily famous, but her dating life doesn’t seem too far removed from what normal people experience. It may be slightly harder for the activist to find a genuine partner. However, she seems to have a knack for knowing what people’s true intentions are.
“I guess I have developed an instinct for people that aren’t fazed by my situation,” Watson said. “You either have chemistry or you don’t. It becomes much more interpersonal, the relationship you have with that person you either find that you are clicking with them or not.”
