Fans of Emma Watson are always interested in what projects she’s working on. Since completing the Harry Potter franchise, the actor has built up her resume with some pretty eclectic movies. The activist has done everything from indies like The Perks of Being a Wallflower to massive blockbusters like Beauty and the Beast. And it certainly seems like she’ll be adding new projects to her CV in the very near future.

Though Watson has projects sent to her frequently, she’s always been selective about the movies she says yes to. After Harry Potter ended, Watson famously went to Brown University instead of exclusively pursuing acting. In fact, she even turned down some high-profile projects to attend the prestigious institution. This was certainly a surprise to many people. Watson has even shared that it enraged some people.

It’s been a few years since Watson starred in a movie. Her latest film, Little Women, premiered in 2019. Back in 2021, there were even rumors that Brit was retiring from the entertainment industry. The media began reporting that the Harry Potter alum was giving up acting in favor of starting a family. However, Watson eventually debunked those rumors through a public letter that she posted on Twitter.
“Dear Fans, Rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is ‘dormant or not’ are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue,” Watson explained. “If I have news – I promise I’ll share it with you. In the meantime, please assume no news from me just means I’m quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are – failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people. Watson teases new projects in 2022
Now that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has quelled a bit, it seems like Watson is ready to get back to work. Recently, she sat down with Vogue and was asked what she had planned for 2022. The actor expertly teased that she did have some things in the works. “You’ll have to wait and see, but there are projects,” Watson promised.
Considering Watson’s many interests, it’s hard to say if the projects she’s working on are movies or something else. But even if they are films, it will be pretty tricky for fans to guess what Watson gets up to next. According to a conversation that the actor had with Interview Magazine, she doesn’t have a clear-cut method for navigating her acting career.
How does Watson pick the movies she works on?
“People sometimes talk about me as being a brand, having a strategy and whatever else,” Watson explained. “I wish. Seriously. I wish I had it together enough to have a strategy. But it’s so instinctual. It usually comes down to two things: the person I’m working with—the director is really important to me—and a line in a script.” Regardless of what Watson’s projects are, we’re sure her fans can’t wait to see what she’s announcing or releasing in the coming months.
