Erika Jayne’s Broadway Comeback Sparks Tons of Comments From Bravolebrities
Erika Jayne, known for her glamorous persona on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, made a foray into Broadway in 2020. A dream come true for the former wife of disgraced lawyer Tom Girardi quickly became a disappointment as the coronavirus pandemic rendered a total shutdown of the Broadway theatre district weeks after Jayne’s Chicago stint began. Now, she’s back on stage and Bravolebrities have a lot to say about it.
In January 2020, Jayne debuted as Roxie Hart, the charismatic and cunning housewife-turned-murderess in Chicago. One of Broadway’s most desired roles, the character of Roxie requires a mix of singing, dancing, and acting. At this point, Jayne had released several singles in an attempt to bolster her music career, appealing to her fans with hits like “Xxpen$ive.” But Chicago signified a huge step up for the Atlanta native’s entertainment career.
Critics saw Jayne’s casting as a way to bring modern pop-culture flair to the classic show that had been on Broadway since 1996. The TV personality brought her signature style and energy to the longest-running American musical in Broadway history, connecting with fans from her pop music and reality TV backgrounds. (Past Roxies include Melanie Griffith, Brandy, and Christie Brinkley.)
Jayne’s Broadway stint was initially planned for a limited run lasting through March 29, 2020. Unfortunately, COVID-19 cut short her time on stage and forced a full shutdown of Broadway by March 2020. Thanks to Jayne’s versatility as an entertainer and the repairs to her reputation after Girardi’s trial, the 53-year-old was invited to reprise her role as Roxie Hart. “It’s Broadway, so who says no to Broadway?” Jayne exclaimed to Playbill, via Instagram, on January 19, 2025.
Playbill reporter Jeffrey Vizcaíno asked the controversial real housewife, “What are you excited about digging in this time around?” Jayne, known for her scandalous comments on RHOBH, kept things professional. “The nuances,” she stated. “Things that I missed the first run … I’ve been thinking about it for five years. Look — I’ve gone through some really interesting personal things in the last five years that may or may not sort of mirror Roxie’s legal journey.”
Jayne revealed that she’ll complete 24 shows through February 9, 2025. It sounds like a lot of Bravolebrities will stop by Broadway to support her. The housewife’s Instagram was filled with enthusiastic comments as she posted about her role. The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Kenya Moore wrote, “LOVE”; Kandi Burruss commented with several fire emojis and Cynthia Bailey added clapping hands.
Potomac‘s Candiace commented, “Yeeeeeezzzzzz!!!!!!!!!” and Orange County‘s Heather Dubrow wrote, “Woahhhhhh.” The Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Melissa Gorga stated, “I’m coming this time,” and RHONY’s Dorinda Medley echoed, “I’m coming!!!!” Jennifer Tilly, a new cast member on RHOBH, may have said it best, “You were amazing in this! I’m glad you get to do another stint to make up for the last one ending so abruptly.”
