‘Eternals’: Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo Encourages Fans to Meet the ‘Greatest Warriors’ in Marvel’s TV Spot

Marvel featured more of the Eternals in a new TV spot, including Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo proclaiming the Eternals as ‘the greatest warriors the world has ever known.’ The trailer also gives glimpses at other Eternals such as Angelina Jolie’s Thena, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Don Lee as Gilgamesh.

Just like Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel wants to build hype around the Eternals, since they remain somewhat obscure to casual audiences. In a new TV spot, Marvel encourages fans to meet the greatest warriors the world has ever known, according to Kumail Nanjiani’s Eternals character Kingo.

Who is ‘Eternals’ Kingo?

The Eternals features a massive cast of characters, each with their own twisting and intersecting histories.

While Richard Madden’s Ikaris, Salma Hayek’s Ajak, and Angelina Jolie’s Thena seem to be the focus, Nanjiani’s Kingo stepped up to announce the team in Marvel’s new TV spot.

Like all the Eternals, the Celestials created him thousands of years ago. After fighting back the Deviants, he took up residence in Japan in the comics.

He has a deep love for samurai and has tangled with the Mad Titan Thanos more than once. However, Kingo has never struck out on his own adventures, usually sticking with the larger Eternals group.

While the Avengers might never have heard of them, the Eternals claim the title of the greatest warriors ever, according to Kingo.

“You’re about to meet the greatest warriors the world has ever known,” Nanjiani’s Kingo said, “Legendary, fashionable, powerful.”

The TV spot gives a better look at some Eternals featured less in other trailers. Lauren Ridloff as Makkari hits the ground running — literally. Don Lee brandishes a powerful fist as Gilgamesh.

It looks like every Eternal sees their time to shine, and Nanjiani’s Kingo looks to fight alongside his fellow cosmic heroes.

Nanjiani’s Kingo brags proudly about the might of the Eternals. However, from an audience standpoint, strength can only carry a film so far.

While Chloé Zhao’s Eternals boasts a massive and powerful cast, their dynamics remain the most important part.

“In addition to giving us a new look at their powers, it also provides us a glimpse at some of their playful banters that highlight the immortal team’s family dynamic,” Coming Soon notes.

Jolie’s Thena and Brian Tyree Henry’s Phastos banter in a modern-day home, while Ikaris tells someone unseen to “play nice.”

Whether Ikaris addresses a Deviant or another Eternal in a tense moment is yet to be seen.

Marvel’s Eternals looks to shake the very foundation the Marvel Cinematic Universe is built on. Bringing in Jack Kirby’s cosmic team seems risky to some, but endlessly exciting to others.

The Eternals, and Nanjiani’s Kingo, hit theaters on November 5, 2021, and likely joins Disney+’s line-up in the near future.
