‘Euphoria’: Which Celebrity Turned Down a Role in the Cast?
For many people, being cast in Euphoria would be like winning the lottery. Ever since the show premiered in the Summer of 2019, it has been wildly popular amongst fans and critics. Everything from the music, to the makeup, to the cinematography, adds to the show’s buzzy vibes and the actors who star in the show have become household names and have been afforded many opportunities thanks to their involvement in the hit HBO drama.
In fact, the buzz for Euphoria is so immense that thousands of people submitted to the Season 2 open casting call. Whether they were actors or not, people were itching for a chance to star in the drama. However, one celebrity actually passed on the opportunity to join the cast of the show. In a recent interview with Variety, Lil Nas X revealed that he was given the chance to star in the show but he turned it down.
Why Lil Nas X turned down a spot in the ‘Euphoria’ cast
“I was actually going to do Euphoria, but I didn’t want to take time away from finishing my album,” the “Old Town Road” singer shared with the publication. “I definitely want to get into acting, but I feel I have to give it my all, and I want to focus on music for right now. I want my first movie to be amazing.”
After the news spread that Lil Nas X had turned down a spot in the Euphoria cast, he took to his Twitter page to clarify that he loved the show. “Btw this was not me saying I’m too good for Euphoria, that’s literally one of my favorite shows right now,” he tweeted. While some people were surprised that Lil Nas X turned down such a big opportunity, it makes sense that he’s focused on his music, which is what put him on the map in the first place.
Sydney Sweeney intially turned down an audition for the show
Funnily enough, Lil Nas X isn’t the only one who turned down the opportunity to be in Euphoria. Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard on the show, initially passed on the chance to audition for the show. Sweeney was initially unnerved by the nudity that her role required so she turned the audition down. However, when it got re-sent to her she decided to go for it and she booked the role off of her tape. Naturally, Sweeney is glad now that she put her reservations aside and just decided to go for it.
When will ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 premiere on HBO?
While Lil Nas X won’t be appearing in the Euphoria cast, fans still have plenty to look forward to in Season 2. The show has added some new characters to enrich the story. Additionally, the sophomore season is being shot on film, which continue the series’ reputation of being a visually stunning show. Furthermore, the story arcs for Season 2 are said to be even more dramatic and gut-wrenching. While there’s no set release date for Euphoria Season 2 just yet (in fact, the cast is still filming) fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to see their favorite characters back on the small screen.
