‘Euphoria’ Fans Think Lexi’s Play Could Reignite Kat’s Feelings for Ethan in ‘The Theater and It’s Double’
Kat (Barbie Ferreira) has spent most of Euphoria Season 2 distancing herself from her boyfriend Ethan (Austin Abrams). Their relationship finally ended in “A Thousand Little Trees of Blood,” but there is speculation Kat’s feelings for Ethan might reignite in the next episode. Kat relationship with Ethan in ‘Euphoria’ Season 2
Throughout season 2, Kat has been working through several personal problems, including finding herself unexplainably miserable with Ethan. At one point, she fantasizes about having sex with a Game of Thrones-inspired warrior after he murders her boyfriend.
Among the many things that happen in Euphoria Season 2, Episode 6 (Rue (Zendaya) tries to get clean, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) makes it explicitly clear what she did wasn’t wrong), Kat tries to break up with Ethan by telling him she has a “terminal brain disorder.” Seeing right through her lie, Ethan calls Kat out for breaking up with him by using “some kind of manipulation tactic [she] learned on some incel Reddit forum.”
Ultimately, Ethan breaks up with Kat. But fans think Lexi’s play could be a game-changer.
Lexi’s play might cause Kat’s lust for Ethan to come back
Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) play is all many Euphoria fans can talk about for several reasons. There’s a lot of fan speculation about the drama the paly play could cause among Cassie and the other girls it’s about. Plus, “Fexi” supporters think Fez (Angus Cloud) could face legal trouble and be unable to support Lexi’s art in the episode.
But one fan thinks Lexi’s play could be the thing that reunites Kat and Ethan. “I have a theory,” a Euphoria fan tweeted (via Reddit). “Ethan is going to play Nate in the play, then Kat’s going to fall in love with that version of Ethan.”
Kat became confident and comfortable with her sexuality in Euphoria Season 1. While she found love with Ethan, his sweetheart tendencies started to wear on her. But fans think once she sees Ethan playing up the alpha male Nate (Jacob Elordi), her lust for him will reignite.
“Definitely and he’s gonna be like ‘Nah, I’m good,’ and she’s gonna lose it,” says another fan in the Reddit thread. “Even Jacob Elordi said something about Austin Abrams having ‘amazing scene’ this season!” another Redditor pointed out. “I can’t wait to see Ethan in action.”
Other fans hope that’s not the case. “I hope not because then that would mean four out of the six major female characters will have complicated feelings toward Nate,” they commented. “They can’t all be into him.”
‘Euphoria’ could be setting up another love triangle, fans think
If Ethan plays Nate in Lexi’s play, Kat’s feelings could return. Some fans think that might happen as Ethan begins falling for Lexi.
“I think they’re setting Ethan up to fall for Lexi,” said a fan on Reddit. Season 2 has spent a lot of time setting up a romance between Lexi and Fez, but some fans can see a love triangle forming between Lexi, Kat, and Ethan or Lexi, Ethan, and Fez.
“I do love Fez but … he’s still a drug dealer involved in a lot of messed up stuff and Lexi is squeaky clean,” another fan commented in the thread. “It’s good for Lexi to have some fun and be confident, but in real life it wouldn’t be smart for her to be with someone like Fez unless he’s able to clean up.”
