‘Euphoria’ Finale: Dominic Fike Is ‘Humbled’ by Fans’ Response to Elliot’s Song
Dominic Fike’s Elliot performed a song in the Euphoria Season 2 finale that was too long for many fans. Many wished showrunners cut the performance and advanced other storylines from the season, like the romance between #Fexi or Nate and Cal Jacobs‘ (Jacob Elordi, Eric Dane) relationship. Having seen countless memes about Elliot’s song, Fike finally responded to the Internet. Here’s what the actor had to say.
[SPOILER ALERT: Minor spoilers ahead for Euphoria Season 2 Episode 8.]
Elliot’s song took up too much time in the ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 finale
The season 2 finale of Euphoria was heavy for a lot of fans, but the song Elliot shared with Rue (Zendaya) served as a moment of calm. In the episode, a sober Rue continues on her apology tour, visiting Elliot to say she forgives him for ratting her out. She also thanks him for saving her life.
It’s unclear if they can remain friends at this point because Elliot is still using. But before Rue leaves, Elliot performs the song “Little Star” for her.
Dominic Fike’s reacts to the memes about Elliot’s song
On Feb. 28, Fike shared several memes poking fun at Elliot’s performance in the Euphoria finale. The actor had a good sense of humor about the posts, writing “Hahaha” over one shared tweet. In another post to his Instagram Stories, Fike agreed with a meme of a man saying: “I’m getting cooked.”
“This really how I woke up,” Fike wrote over the post. In another post to his Instagram Stories, Fike shared a selfie and wrote: “The internet remains undefeated I am humbled.”
‘Euphoria’ fans are sympathetic toward Dominic Fike for the hate Elliot’s song is getting
Most Euphoria fans didn’t think Fike’s performance in the season 2 finale was bad. Rather, they were bothered about how much time the episode dedicated to the song — one the character said he was “still working on.” But now that Fike has responded to fans’ reactions, many are clarifying why they reacted to the scene the way they did.
“I was thinking about him when everyone was bashing his scene (or how long it was),” said one Redditor. “Like imagine loving your part, then getting on the Internet and millions of people hating it. But I’m glad he has a sense of humor about it too.”
“The song was actually good,” said another Reddit user in a thread discussing Fike’s reaction. “He has a lovely voice, but it should have been like a 30sec scene, not [four] minutes.”
Another Reddit comment reads: “Love that he was a trooper. The scene was just painfully long but his voice is amazing and the song was very touching.”
Zendaya and Labrinth wrote ‘Little Star’
Some Reddit users in the Euphoria sub thought Elliot sang in the season 2 finale to promote Fike’s career as a musician. But in reality, “Little Star” isn’t Fike’s song.
In reality, Zendaya and recurring Euphoria musician Labrinth wrote “Little Star.”
