Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney have a lot of scenes together in season 2 of ‘Euphoria’

In the first season of Euphoria, Cassie and Nate do not interact much because Nate is dating Cassie’s friend, Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie). Since the premiere of the show’s second season, Nate and Cassie have begun a secret relationship.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Elordi shared that acting alongside Sweeney throughout the second season of Euphoria made the two feel like “Bonnie and Clyde.”

“Yeah, we had nothing to do with each other in the first season, and so I never really ever worked with her, but I mean creatively this season, we became a bit of a Bonnie and Clyde. Every time I was in, I was in with her, and vice versa,” Elordi said.

He continued, “And she’s so, so good at what she does that it was just such a treat the entire time working with her. She brings it every single take, every single scene. And they’re always intense scenes with her as well, but we had so much fun. We got to play all kinds of different dynamics from that first meeting, and so it was such a treat working with her.”

Does Nate really love Cassie?

In season 2 episode 2 of Euphoria, titled “Out of Touch,” Nate has a dream about ending up with Cassie. Despite his possible feelings for Cassie, his dream also includes brief scenes of Jules Vaughan (Hunter Schafer). At the end of the season’s third episode, “Ruminations: Big and Little Bullys,” Nate appears to try and reconcile with Maddy.

During his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Elordi dissected Nate’s feelings for Cassie, saying:

“I think he just has this very primal, ‘American Dream’ idea in him of having a very straight down the line, white picket fence, beautiful blonde life. This idea of love and family that he doesn’t have. This conventional storybook idea for him. And I think he’s doing that thing, that’s what you’re saying, trying to convince himself like ‘This is right in front of me. This is a good girl. She loves me. I have full control over her. This must be what love is.’ Because that’s his thing. The whole time I think he has no f***ing idea what love is. He’s not loved by his mom. He’s not loved by his dad. He’s not loved by his peers. He has no concept of what real love is. So he’s just trying the best he can to understand it.”

Jacob Elordi finds ‘working with’ Sydney Sweeney on ‘Euphoria’ to be ‘completely different’

In the first season of the HBO series, most of Elordi’s scenes involved Demie or Schafer. Because of Nate’s headspace, Elordi found acting with Sweeney to be “completely different” than his experience in season 1 of Euphoria.

“Yeah, completely different working with Syd. With that particular storyline, I tried to treat it almost like I was making a romance film because I needed to have something different in my eyes in the way that I looked at her,” Elordi told Entertainment Weekly.
