Euphoria Season 2 is already halfway over, and the drama is heating up. The HBO series returned after a break of nearly two years, and the show seems to have only increased in popularity. Zendaya’s Rue Bennett has relapsed this season. Episode 4 saw her continuing to push away those who care about her. What happened in ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Episode 4?

In Euphoria Season 2 Episode 4 Rue is still getting unbelievable high behind Jules back, but she isn’t the only one keeping secrets. Elliot and Jules are hooking up, though Rue doesn’t seem to notice at all. When the trio hang out one night, Jules questions why Rue is drinking and Rue demands that she wants to go home. Elliot finally reveals to Jules that Rue is not sober.

Meanwhile, Maddie celebrates her birthday with her girls, including Kat and a very drunk Cassie. Nate shows up and an awkward conversation ends with Cassie throwing up in the hot tub. Cal also gets very drunk and visits the bar where he shared his first kiss with Derek 20 years ago. He eventually gets kicked out and goes home to urinate on the floor and reveal his sexual history to his entire family.

What is ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Episode 5 about?

Euphoria Season 2 Episode 5 is titled “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird.” The promo video for the new episode includes a voiceover of Laurie, the drug lord saying, “The longer you use, all the chemicals in your brain that make you feel good start to weaken and wither. The things that don’t feel good don’t feel as bad anymore.”

Ominously, Rue is nowhere to be seen in the promo. Jules looks distressed and Gia sobs in bed. The video also includes several clips of the police. It could be possible that Rue overdosed again. Alternatively, Rue has a suitcase full of drugs from Laurie that she has been using instead of selling. Perhaps Laurie found this out and decided to punish Rue for stealing.

Release date and where to watch episode 5

According to hiddenremote.com, Euphoria Season 2 Episode 5 is set to air on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 9 p.m. ET. Euphoria won several awards for its first season. Now it looks like season 2 is set up to be an even greater hit.

According to Variety, viewership in season 2 is up nearly 100% from season 1. The outlet reports that Euphoria Season 2 “hit a new series high in viewership each week from its Jan. 9 premiere” until episode 4. The slight dip in viewership for episode 4 could have occurred because the show was airing on the same day as NFC Championship.
