‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Episode 7: HBO Instagram Post Hints That Maddy’s Being Recorded — But Where?
Fans are excited to see what’s in store for Euphoria Season 2 Episode 7. In the Maddy, Cassie, and Nate saga, Maddy and Nate seem officially done — and Cassie went to stay with Nate at the end of Euphoria Season 2 Episode 6. Maddy then bonded with Samantha, the woman she babysits for, over the drama. But it looks like there might be trouble ahead for Maddy given what HBO posted.
Who plays Samantha on ‘Euphoria’? She and Maddy bond in ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Episode 6
Euphoria Season 2 Episode 6 featured more of Samantha. So, who plays Samantha in Euphoria? Minka Kelly, better known for her roles in Friday Night Lights and Parenthood, plays the chic woman Maddy babysits for. Maddy is often seen babysitting Samantha’s son, Theo.
Earlier in the season, Maddy tried on many of Samantha’s expensive clothes during her babysitting hours — and she quickly took them off prior to Samantha’s arrival back home. But in episode 6, Maddy and Samantha became closer than ever. They shared a bottle of wine while Maddy told Samantha about Cassie sleeping with Nate. During their conversation, Samantha divulged that she once slept with her best friend’s boyfriend in her younger years, shocking Maddy.
Fans continue to scrutinize Maddy and Samantha’s relationship. Yahoo reports many fans don’t understand why Samantha would want to get drunk with her 18-year-old babysitter. We expect this to play out further in Euphoria Season 2 Episode 7.
HBO’s new Instagram post shows Maddy being recorded
Some fans assumed Samantha was recording Maddy as Maddy tried on her clothing in episode 6. Now, it looks like that might be the case in Euphoria Season 2 Episode 7.
HBO posted a short clip to Instagram showing Maddy with a “Smile, you’re on camera!” sign behind her. Maddy sees the sign and looks panicked. “On the record,” HBO captioned the post.
Many fans assume Maddy’s in Samantha’s closet during this scene. This, of course, will prompt an awkward conversation between Maddy and Samantha.
“The mom had come home soon after the camera was revealed,” a Reddit user noted. “Perhaps she was watching …? Then, oddly, asked if Maddy wanted to go for a swim when she got back (seemed out of place). Unfortunately … I think something sexual is building there.”
Other fans think the post doesn’t show Maddy at Samantha’s home at all. Some think Maddy has a camera in her room, and the sign is to show Nate his actions from episode 6 were recorded. Many fans remember that Maddy has this sign in her room, too. The moment HBO posted is from episode 6 as well, so it seems more plausible that Maddy will use Nate’s actions against him if she has them on camera.
“Maybe them showing that camera and then the yellow sign is alluding to Maddy having a camera in her room to catch Nate if he tries anything … I have a feeling what Nate did to Maddy is on camera,” another Reddit user guessed. “I’m not sure why the focus is on [Samantha] when the picture in OP is so obvious.”
“I don’t know, I think the sign being in the bedroom shot for such an extended period could definitely mean something,” another Reddit user noted.
‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Episode 7 will feature more of Cassie and Nate
Euphoria Season 2 Episode 7 will certainly yield answers regarding the security footage. And we’ll also see more of Cassie and Nate’s relationship play out. The teaser for episode 7 shows Cassie wearing a necklace that looks like the one Nate took from Maddy’s dresser. If Cassie wears Maddy’s necklace while holding Nate’s hand through the halls of their high school, we can’t imagine she’ll ever make up with Maddy.
Euphoria Season 2 Episode 7 airs Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at 9 p.m. EST on HBO Max.
