‘Euphoria’ Season 2: Who Opens the Door to Rue’s House at the End of Episode 5? Episode 6 Preview Gives a Clue
[Spoiler alert: Euphoria Season 2 Episode 5 spoilers ahead.]
Euphoria Season 2 Episode 5 marked the lowest point for Rue so far in the series. The episode begins with Rue’s mother confronting Rue about her pill usage — and it ends with Rue at Laurie’s house. In Euphoria, Laurie represents one of the scariest characters in the series. And fans fear what she’ll do to Rue now that Rue lost all of her drugs. So, who opens the door to Rue’s house at the end of episode 5? Here’s what we think.
‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Episode 5 featured Rue on the run
Some fans had a hard time watching Euphoria Season 2 Episode 5, “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird.” The episode starts explosively with Rue and her mother verbally going at it. Rue also verbally attacks Jules after hearing that Jules is the one who exposed her drug usage. Rue tells Jules her life has only gotten worse since Jules entered it, resulting in a heartbreaking breakup for the couple.
In an earlier episode of Euphoria, Laurie gave Rue drugs in a suitcase for Rue to sell for $10,000. Jules tells Rue the drugs have been flushed, sending Rue into a spiral. The show depicts her running from her mother, the cops, and eventually back into Laurie’s house to confess what occurred. Laurie then injects Rue with morphine during Rue’s drug withdrawal. When Rue wakes up in Laurie’s house, she finds herself locked in. But she manages to escape out of a window and run away.
The episode concludes with someone opening the door to Rue’s house. “Rue?” her mother calls as she’s sitting at the kitchen table.
Who opens the door to Rue’s house? The ‘Euphoria’ trailer for episode 6 gives a clue
So, who opens the door to Rue’s home at the end of Euphoria Season 2 Episode 5? It could certainly be Laurie’s people who are coming for Rue’s family. When Laurie gave Rue the drugs to sell, she warned Rue that she could traffic Rue to “sick” people if Rue messes up the deal. Now that Rue admitted to not having the drugs or the money, Laurie could seek retribution on Rue’s family.
The Euphoria Season 2 Episode 6 trailer offers a more hopeful idea, though. The trailer opens with Rue hunched over being helped back into her house. She’s then seen on her bathroom floor crying, and she’s also seen in her kitchen crying. “Most people would say the world would be a better place without me,” Rue’s voiceover says in the trailer. “I don’t disagree.” From there, it looks like Rue will have to reconcile with Jules and her family.
“Most people would say the world would be a better place without me,” Rue’s voiceover says in the trailer. “I don’t disagree.”
According to the trailer, it looks like Rue is the one to enter her home at the end of episode 5 — not Laurie or her people. With so many scenes of Rue back home, there’s a good chance Rue ran from Laurie’s place right back to her house. But we imagine Laurie’s consequences will come.
Some fans think Laurie’s people will take Gia instead of Rue
Fans will see more of Laurie after Euphoria Season 2 Episode 5. And some fans think Gia, Rue’s sister, will have to face consequences.
“There’s a theory circulating on TikTok that Laurie’s people will confuse Rue for Gia and kidnap Gia and hold her for this reason,” a fan on Reddit explained. “It’s not something I’ve considered before, but there is often a very thin line between drugs/human trafficking for money, but I don’t know whether this is something they would truly explore.”
“They know her name, and as meticulous as Laurie and her people are, the more likely scenario is that they’ll take Gia as collateral for both Rue escaping and the drugs,” another Reddit user guessed.
Euphoria Season 2 Episode 6 airs Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at 9 p.m. EST on HBO Max.
