‘Euphoria’ Season 2: What Time Are New Episodes on HBO Max?
After a hiatus of two years, Euphoria Season 2 is finally here. The show’s first season introduced Zendaya’s character Rue, a teenage addict who also serves as the series’ narrator. Along the way, fans got to know other high schoolers in her circle. Euphoria also released two specials in the years following season 1. Now that the show is back for season 2, here’s everything fans need to know about when to catch new episodes.
What is ‘Euphoria’ Season 2 about?
Euphoria Season 2 picked back up on New Year’s Eve. Rue Bennett has fully relapsed and gets caught up in a tense situation with Fezco and a female drug dealer. Meanwhile, in the wake of Nate’s breakup with Maddie, he starts hooking up with her best friend Cassie. Rue meets Elliot at the New Year’s Eve party and the pair form a friendship based on getting high together. Jules eventually warms up to Elliot, though she doesn’t know until episode 4 that Rue isn’t sober anymore.
Amidst this chaos, fans also got a backstory for Nate’s father Cal. Episode 3 of Euphoria Season 2 revealed that Cal was in love with his best friend Derek in high school. Although the pair shared a kiss, Cal’s girlfriend (and future wife) Marsha discovered she was pregnant soon after. Cal did what he felt was right and stayed with her to raise a family. He hides his sexuality from his family for decades until he reveals everything in episode 4.

‘Euphoria’ recieved critical acclaim
Euphoria is a fairly controversial series for more reasons than one. The series is jam-packed with drug use, nudity, and sexual content, and Euphoria Season 2 continues this trend. However, the series has also received critical acclaim and its viewership only seems to be increasing.
The first season of Euphoria won three Emmy Awards — one for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic) and another for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, according to emmys.com. Zendaya, who plays the protagonist Rue was also awarded Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in the show. Despite the controversy, fans are praising the show and it seems to be more popular than ever.
