The finale aired on Feb. 27, but there’s more in store for viewers. Here’s what we know about Euphoria Season 3 so far.

‘Euphoria’ has been approved for another season on HBO Max

Lauded for its acting and gritty depiction of issues that real teenagers may face, Euphoria has been a huge hit for HBO — so much so that it was no surprise when it got renewed. The news came down in February, in a statement that was obtained and shared by Variety.

“Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of ‘Euphoria’ have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart,” HBO executive Francesca Orsi said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3.“

Though HBO has yet to announce a definite release date for Euphoria Season 3, there are rumors going around that the show will return in 2024.

‘Euphoria’ Season 3 has several loose ends to tie up

The latest episode of Euphoria flashed between scenes of Lexi’s play and the drama at Fezco’s house. Fez (Angus Cloud) had hoped to be there, but he got caught up in conversation with Custer (Tyler Chase).

Ashtray (Javon Walton) sensed Custer was setting them up and stabbed him in the neck with a blade, killing him. Fez was going to take the fall for him, but Ashtray wouldn’t let him. Instead, he got into a violent shootout with the police and sadly, lost his life. What happens to Fez remains to be seen.

At the play, after breaking up with Nate (Jacob Elordi), Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) stormed the stage and confronted Lexi (Maude Apatow) for basing it on their actual lives. Watching her try to play the victim made Maddy (Alexa Demie) so angry that she also rushed the stage and fully attacked Cassie. When things finally calmed, the two were able to talk, but their friendship is still up in the air.

Nate, meanwhile, met up with his father, Cal (Eric Dane), for the first time since he walked out following a wild night of drinking. Finally, Cal opened up to Nate, telling him all the things he’d probably waited a lifetime to hear. But it was too late. Nate wanted revenge and he got it by calling the police on Cal for his illegal sex tapes.

When the play was over, Jules (Hunter Schafer) went over to Rue to apologize for what happened between them. Rue appeared to let it go when she kissed Jules on the forehead, but she also left without acknowledging her. Some good news came when Rue revealed she maintained her sobriety throughout the remainder of the school year, but she’s also still indebted to the very scary Laurie (Martha Kelly).

Actors likely to appear in ‘Euphoria’ Season 3

While the cast of Euphoria Season 3 has yet to be announced, we can assume that most characters will be back based on where the show left them. This includes Zendaya, Schafer, Elordi, Cloud, Sweeney, Demie, and Apatow, as well as actors such as Storm Reid (Gia) and Barbie Ferreira (Kat), among others.

It’s unclear whether characters like McKay (Algee Smith) will be back. When The Daily Beast asked Smith for comment, he directed the question over to show creator Sam Levinson. But he shared his hope that McKay would appear in Euphoria Season 3.

“We’ll have to see, I’m just riding with the wave right now,” he said.
