Even Kardashian Fans Don’t Know Why They’re So Obsessed With Plastic Surgery Rumors
The Kardashians have long been criticized for how they look, to the point where sometimes it seems like fans love them and hate them at the same time.
One thing that’s constantly at the forefront of the conversation is authenticity. Fans want to know what’s real and what’s not about the KarJen physique. The big question everyone asks, and the one the Kardashian clan refuses to answer in a satisfying way, is the one about plastic surgery. In a recent Reddit thread, fans discussed the sentiments at the heart of the plastic surgery obsession. It turns out, some fans aren’t even sure why they’re so obsessed.
The Kardashians haven’t admitted to having work done on their faces
The Kardashian-Jenners are constantly being asked about plastic surgery. They have constantly denied ever getting anything done. In fact, sometimes they’ve gone to crazy lengths in attempts to prove their bodies are ‘natural.’ For example, Kim got an x-ray of her butt to prove she doesn’t have rear-end implants. Later, experts said that the x-ray doesn’t prove she didn’t have a butt augmentation. Implants would show up on an x-ray, but if doctors took fat from a different part of her body and put it in her backside, the x-ray would look like a normal butt.
This vehement denial of any type of surgery seems to be what fuels fans’ fire. The more the Kardashians deny, the more fans think that they must have had something done.
To be fair, some of the Kardashians have admitted to getting work done. Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the clan, has owned up to quite a few procedures. Her daughters haven’t followed her lead, for the most part. Kourtney Kardashian opened up about getting breast implants, but she’s really the only one who fans think has been fully honest about what she’s gotten done.
The KarJen clan shares everything else
One of the reasons fans feel that the Kardashians should be more open about their procedures is that they share everything else. Literally. The KarJen family records almost everything they do for public viewing, be it for Keeping Up with the Kardashians, or even simple Instagram posts. So the lack of transparency around surgery enrages fans and makes them want to know even more.
Of course, if the sisters are telling the truth about not having work done then that’s a different story. The problem is, fans have already decided that the KarJen’s changing faces and bodies are proof of surgery, and they won’t accept any explanation to the contrary.
The Kardashian-Jenners have said that any changes to their faces or physiques have been the result of either nature, weight gain, exercise, makeup, or fillers. They have owned up to that much at least. Fillers, or injections of botox or other chemicals, can make small changes in the face. Fans think that the KarJens have changed more than can be explained by simple fillers.
Admitting to surgery may not be ‘on brand’ for the Kardashians
One of the reasons the Kardashian-Jenners may be so reluctant to admit to plastic surgery is that it would interfere with their business. For example, Kylie Jenner has made $1 billion off of her cosmetics company, Kylie Cosmetics. She models most of the products herself, and in a lot of ways, she represents the brand. People buy Kylie Cosmetics because they want to look like Kylie. If Kylie’s look is only achievable through surgery, fans might be less likely to purchase the makeup.
That’s at least the fan theory as to why the Kardashians are so tight-lipped about going under the knife. But their silence is a double-edged sword. On Reddit, fans felt that they are being lied to and manipulated. They think that the Kardashians have had plastic surgery, and not being clear about what has been done promotes an unrealistic standard of beauty.
