‘Even Stevens’ Christy Carlson Romano Dressed Up as Co-Star Shia LaBeouf, But She Looks Like Another Actor
Actor Christy Carlson Romano, best known for the Disney Channel series Even Stevens, poked fun at her former co-star, Shia LaBeouf, in a new YouTube video. However, some think her impersonation is more reminiscent of another famous actor.
Christy Carlson Romano and Shia LaBeouf starred in ‘Even Stevens’
The two actors met when they began starring in the ’00s sitcom Even Stevens. Romano portrayed Ren Stevens, the middle child and only daughter of the family, is an academic overachiever and the exact opposite of her younger brother, Louis (LaBeouf). The two are often at odds with one another.
The Disney Channel series fan for three seasons on the network, concluding with a TV movie in 2003. Even Stevens was nominated for several Daytime Emmy Awards, but only won one: Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series, awarded to the then-teenage LaBeouf for his work on the show’s final season.
LaBeouf has gone on to star in films like ‘Honey Boy’
The series set LaBeouf up for stardom. He dove right into film, appearing in big-budget projects like Holes and I, Robot. LaBeouf then had his big movie breakout as the lead in the Transformers franchise, starring in three films. He also starred opposite Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
But the next decade marked a turning point for LaBeouf. He focused on creating, writing and directing short films, and delving into performance art. As an actor, he made controversial choices like the art-house film Nymphomaniac. LaBeouf later wrote and starred in Honey Boy, based on his own experiences as a child star.
Romano dressed up as LaBeouf in a video for her channel
Romano’s career trajectory has gone a bit differently. Besides a few horror films and lesser-known independent flicks, she has primarily continued to act in animated projects. Her relationship with Disney is still very much intact, and she appeared in the live-action Kim Possible movie as a nod to her voice role in the animated series.
Like many stars, Romano has found a new audience with her YouTube channel, which features many cooking videos. She occasionally has on other actors to make a dish with her, but she also has a Celebrity Kitchen series where she dresses up as a celebrity and cooks. Romano did just that while pretending to be LaBeouf.
Twitter users think she looked like Robert Sheehan
In the video, Romano went for a very specific look, donning a fake goatee and a hooded sweatshirt with a Hawaiian shirt over it, the latter of which seems to be a nod to his character on the Even Stevens. She even used colored contacts to make her eyes appear lighter.
But she may have gone a bit too far, as some thought she looked like a different actor. “I thought this was Robert Sheehan,” wrote one Twitter user. Indeed, it’s pretty hard to deny the similarities between Romano here and The Umbrella Academy star, above.
