Ashton Kutcher has, once again, found himself on the outskirts of a celebrity scandal. While Kutcher hasn’t been the center of any scandals (at least not yet), he’s been astonishingly close to several. His connection to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has only reignited interest in his connection to some of Hollywood’s most shocking moments. We’ve collected all of Kutcher’s connections to scandals.
Ashton Kutcher was slammed for comments he made about Joe Paterno
Ashton Kutcher was at the center of several public relations missteps early in his career. Still, one of the worst came in 2011 when he took to social media to “protest” the firing of Joe Paterno, a college football coach. In the tweet, Kutcher called the firing in “poor taste.”
According to People, the tweet stayed live for several hours before someone informed the actor that Paterno had been fired because of a sexual abuse scandal at Penn State. Paterno was let go after he was accused of covering up crimes committed by Jerry Sandusky. Kutcher returned to the platform and insisted he was unaware of the sex abuse scandal at the time of his tweet.
Ashton Kutcher’s behavior while married to Demi Moore has been questioned
Kutcher apparently has a track record of taking action without thinking about consequences. His Paterno tweet is one example, but his behavior during his short-lived marriage to Demi Moore is another. Moore’s 2019 memoir, Inside Out, paints a scathing picture of a self-absorbed and often immature husband who brought a lot of trouble to his then-wife.
In her book, Moore alleges Kutcher regularly cheated on her and pressured her into sex acts she wasn’t comfortable with, including threesomes. She also claims he was unsupportive of her sobriety and was unapologetic when it came to his bad behavior. According to an interview with Esquire, Kutcher was “pissed” when the memoir was released.
The ‘That 70s’ Show’ star and his wife came under fire for their take on Danny Masterson’s scandal
The Penn State sex scandal was the first sexual abuse scandal Kutcher was connected to, but it would not be the last. Kutcher and his wife, Mila Kunis, came under fire in 2023 after they penned character letters ahead of Danny Masterson’s rape conviction sentencing. Kutcher and Kunis suggested Masterson was a “role model” and “kind” in letters they sent to the judge sentencing the former star.
A jury convicted Masterson of raping two women. He is serving a lengthy sentence for those crimes. After receiving a lot of criticism for their character letters, Kunis and Kutcher addressed what they wrote. They claimed they understood the “hurt” they caused and insisted they did not intend to question the legitimacy of the jury’s findings.
The A-lister was part of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ social circle
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has spent decades in the spotlight, but recent headlines about the music mogul are anything but good. Combs was arrested in September 2024 on a host of criminal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. He is awaiting trial.
Combs has amassed plenty of famous friends during his years in the entertainment industry. Ashton Kutcher is reportedly one of them. Kutcher’s name became connected to the sex scandal thanks to something Diddy once said. Combs once revealed that he, Kutcher, and Jamie Foxx used to party together regularly.
