Princess Beatrice is getting into the game—the royal game, that is. King Charles III reportedly wants his 35-year-old niece to help out by making more public appearances due to the royal family’s packed summer schedule. Ahead, when Beatrice is expected to join the king. Plus, why she’s “desperate for her chance to shine.”

Buckingham Palace is figuring out how to ‘best deploy’ Beatrice

According to a Daily Mail report, things behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace include “how best to deploy Beatrice.” The oldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson is a non-working royal, meaning representing the monarchy isn’t her job.

However, she does occasionally attend events such as Trooping the Colour, the sovereign’s annual birthday parade, and major holiday gatherings such as Easter and Christmas.

The report claims that King Charles doesn’t want to change Beatrice’s non-working royal status. At the same time, he “needs help to deal with what insiders acknowledge is an exceptional year.”

King Charles took time off after being diagnosed with cancer. Meanwhile, Kate Middleton, also a working royal, remains on a break from duties while undergoing her own cancer treatment. (Beatrice’s mom, the Duchess of York, also announced her own cancer diagnosis earlier in the year.)

As for when Beatrice might join King Charles at an event, she’s expected to accompany him on a June 2024 Japanese state visit.

Beatrice won’t be the only non-working royal called up to the proverbial major leagues. Her sister, Princess Eugenie, 34, may also occasionally make an appearance.

“They’ve got a busy diary coming up, and they need to widen the family at social events,” a source close to the Yorks said. “You’ve got a whole week of Ascot. You have four garden parties. You’ve got Trooping the Colour, and you’ve got a state visit before you even start on other things.”

“I think Beatrice and Eugenie are adding support where they can,” the insider added. “They’ve always been clear they’re non-royal, but they’re always there to help fulfill any duties required.”

Meanwhile, another source shared King Charles is mindful of the small number of working royals. “Charles is very aware that his slimmed-down monarchy is getting positively skeletal,” they said. “He is heavily reliant on Anne and the Edinburghs.”

Beatrice, who splits her time between New York and England’s Cotswolds, is eager to attend royal events.

“Beatrice, in particular, has been desperate for her chance to shine,” an insider said. “She was once shy, and her style was a little frumpy. But these days, she’s ambitious, confident, and fashionable. She looks great in photos.”

Meanwhile, King Charles sees his York nieces as a “real asset” to the royal family. “He is looking to bring in some fresh blood and he’s looking to Beatrice and Eugenie. He thinks that they’ve grown into very sensible, lovely women who he thinks could be a real asset.”

“Charles is listening to his public,” they added. “They have been crying out for that royal glamour that has been missing during a time when his slimmed-down monarchy is in desperate need of bulking up.”

Any Chance of a Harry, Royal Family Reconciliation Is Reportedly Gone: ‘Nail in the Coffin’

Back in March 2024, in the days after the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis announcement, a report surfaced claiming Beatrice and Eugenie felt slighted by their uncle.

“They are very upset to have been ignored by the king as they feel they have a lot to offer, but ultimately not surprised,” an insider told The Daily Beast. “They are sanguine about it.”

Meanwhile, another source close to the royals said despite the 75-year-old monarch’s “fond” feelings toward his nieces, it had nothing to do with representing the family.

“Charles is very fond of the York girls. But everyone, including them, accepts there is no place for them to be full-time working royals.”
