This Fan-Made ‘High School Musical’ Reunion Trailer Looks Like a Real Movie
High School Musical ended with its original stars in the third film in 2008 with three record-breaking movies. The franchise, which started as a Disney Channel Original Movie in 2006, exploded into something no one could have ever predicted. The movies’ relevance remains apparent with all that has come out of it, and fans today are still making content and asking for more from the original cast. A new fan-made trailer on TikTok shows what a High School Musical 4 movie could look like — and it looks incredibly real.
How ‘High School Musical 3’ ended and where the characters could go
The third High School Musical film showcased the characters struggling with making life-changing decisions after high school. Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens), a science and math genius, decided to attend the prestigious Stanford University. Strangely, Gabriella got into Stanford during her senior year to begin classes before graduating high school. Gabriella left East High early, and Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) got the spring musical role over the brunette.
Just like always, Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) had to decide between pursuing basketball and theater. He considered attending The Juilliard School in New York City before choosing the University of California, Berkeley to balance basketball, performing, and his relationship with Gabriella simultaneously.
The final movie concluded with the squad’s high school graduation, leaving many wondering what happened to them afterward.
This is the fan-made trailer for ‘High School Musical 4’ on TikTok
A fan shared a trailer for a hypothetical fourth High School Musical film on TikTok. The creator used clips of the actors in other projects. But the way the fan seamlessly tied together the clips made it look real.
The “trailer” showed Gabriella telling Ryan Evans (Lucas Grabeel) that Troy invited her to his wedding. This hypothetical movie takes place 15 years after their high school graduation. She told Ryan she thought she was going to marry Troy.
Then the fan-made work showed Troy saying on the phone that he misses and loves someone — probably Gabriella. Many fans commented on the video expressing their desire for a fourth film to become a reality.
While there is no news on a High School Musical 4, Disney has continued the franchise beyond the third film in 2008.
Where ‘High School Musical’ has gone as a franchise since 2008
A few years after High School Musical 3, Disney released Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure in 2011, which was a straight-to-DVD movie. The film followed Sharpay attempting to “make it” as a performer on Broadway in New York City.
Then, eight years later, Disney+ showed that High School Musical was still important to viewers. The streaming platform released High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, a show that takes place at the fictional East High school. In HSMTMTS, the high schoolers live in a universe where High School Musical was filmed at their high school. The kids acted out the 2006 movie musical for their school as well.
The show’s second season will be available on the streaming platform on May 14. As for High School Musical 4, that’s still yet to be determined.
