Kim Kardashian West is well known for her body and she’s very proud of that. At various points, the reality star has been praised for helping change the public perception of what an “ideal” woman’s body looks like. Instead of the very tall and thin supermodel look, West has helped popularize a curvier shape that’s more realistic for many women.

But even though plenty of followers appreciate Kardashian West celebrating extra curves, others are disgusted by how obsessed she and her sisters are with appearances in general. Plus, they’ve noticed little comments that the mom of 4 makes that seem to glorify being thin.

Kim Kardashian West shared a controversial Mother’s Day post

The most recent example of the Kardashian clan celebrating being thin happened on Mother’s Day. Kim K posted a retro snapshot of her mom, Kris Jenner, and praised her for looking so svelte right after giving birth.

After revealing that she bought her mom a sentimental gift, the KKW Beauty founder wrote, “I love you beyond! And the first pic I posted of you in the bikini after you gave birth to Rob is MAJOR GOALS!!! Always in everything you do!!!!!”

Fans were not happy with Kim K’s message

While plenty of Kim K’s followers loved the photo, just as many took issue with the 39-year-old star perpetrating such unrealistic body goals, especially postpartum.

“Why is it always about being thin? People: Size of your body does NOT equal your worth,” one Twitter user said.

Another agreed, saying, “Why do we base GOALS on how skinny a woman can get after birthing a human?”

This isn’t the first time Kardashian West came under fire for acting like being thin is the ultimate goal, either.

Kardashian West said ‘thank you’ when Kendall Jenner accused her of not eating

On one episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Jenner says, “I’m really concerned. Like, I don’t think you’re eating,” to her sister Kardashian West. “Like, you look so skinny.”

“Oh my God, thank you!” Kim K replies.

And once, Khloe Kardashian told Kim K her tiny waistline looked “anorexic,” which was meant as a compliment. Critics worried that comments like this could be seen as glorifying eating disorders.

Kim K’s infamous Met Gala look was another controversial moment

No one will forget the moment the KUWTK star stepped onto the red carpet in a beaded nude dress meant to look like she was dripping wet. The gown was shocking enough, but Kim K’s itty bitty corseted waistline got just as much attention.

“I wish @KimKardashian would use her platform to speak on things like body positivity but she keeps making her waist unrealistically narrow and her *ss unrealistically big. It’s disgusting and gross and why would you even? The sh*t people with money do,” one person tweeted.

And was the super restrictive corset worth it? As the reality star said later in WSJ Magazine, “I have never felt pain like that in my life.” She continued: “I’ll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off — the indentations on my back and my stomach.”

She also mentioned being unable to sit down all night.

Kardashian West wants to be a good role model for her daughters

Despite all the backlash, Kim K has been adamant about being a good role model for her children, especially her girls. “Having a positive self-image has always been important to me because it affects so many aspects of my life,” she wrote on her website.

“As North gets older, she’ll start to be more aware of herself and her body,” Kardashian West continued. “Her attitude toward her body is directly related to my own, so it’s my responsibility to make sure she understands that positive body image comes from having a healthy self-esteem.”
