Fans Assume ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Has Been Canceled; ABC Has Not Responded
Bachelor Nation fans might have one less show to watch this year. While viewers are excited for The Bachelorette and The Golden Bachelorette, they were quick to notice that there has been no word on Bachelor in Paradise. After a dismal season 9, fans think the series might be canceled. While ABC hasn’t made any announcement, there have been signs.
Chris Harrison said he’s heard the show has been canceled
Fans were already feeling pessimistic about the possibility that Bachelor in Paradise would return. Chris Harrison seemingly stole any glimmer of hope they had left. In February, Harrison talked a bit about Bachelor in Paradise on his podcast, The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever with Chris Harrison. Harrison said that he had heard that Bachelor in Paradise had been canceled or postponed for at least a year.
Harrison is the one person who might be in the know about the future of Bachelor in Paradise. Harrison spent years hosting The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise. He began with the franchise in 2002 and officially departed from it in 2021 after heavy criticism. While Harrison is no longer a part of the franchise, he is still dialed into what is happening.
There are other signs that ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ won’t be returning
Aside from Chris Harrison’s declaration, fans have noticed other signs that the series is canceled or indefinitely postponed. Bachelor in Paradise has been filmed at the same expansive resort in Mexico for years. Now, fans claim the resort was shuttered for renovations, making it impossible for the film crew to take over. It is unclear if the resort has since reopened, though.
While Bachelor in Paradise has filmed at the same location for years, a property closing shouldn’t prevent the series from going forward. After all, thousands of potential tropical resorts would likely welcome the publicity of a show like Bachelor in Paradise. Fans wouldn’t be against changing the location.
Fans were also quick to notice that ABC didn’t announce any potential contestants. Contestants are typically announced months before filming begins. Because no contestants were announced, fans assume the series is a no-go.
ABC has not commented on the future of the series
While fans feel certain that Bachelor in Paradise won’t return for another season, ABC has yet to make any big announcements. The fact that they haven’t announced the new season has fans feeling certain the series is over, but that’s not particularly telling. ABC waited until May 2023 to announce Bachelor in Paradise season 9. While we’ve already moved into June without word from ABC, there is still time to make a big reveal.
It’s also possible that ABC is just spreading its Bachelor Nation content and moving Bachelor in Paradise to a different time. With The Bachelorette and The Golden Bachelorette set for the fall of 2024, ABC might just be postponing Bachelor in Paradise so it can stand on its own. Only time will tell.
For now Bachelor in Paradise is missing from the fall 2024 TV schedule, but fans of the franchise will have plenty to watch. Both The Bachelorette and The Golden Bachelorette are slated to premiere this year. The Bachelorette featuring Jenn Tran has a July 2024 premiere date. The Golden Bachelorette, starring Joan Vassos, is set for a September release.
