Fans Called Kim Kardashian a Hypocrite for Her Tweets About the Taylor Swift Drama
The drama between Kim Kardashian West and Taylor Swift is not even close to being over. The pop superstar and the reality television queen have been embroiled in an ongoing feud for nearly 10 years, with Kanye West playing a major role in the drama as well. Recently, the two started fighting again, despite a brief period of peace – and fans are getting to a point where they are completely over it all, especially the part that Kim Kardashian West is playing in it.
When did the feud between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian West first start?
The feud can be traced all the way back to 2009 when Kanye West rushed the stage as Taylor Swift was accepting the VMA for Music Video of the Year. As West ranted that Beyoncé should have won the award, rather than the newly-minted pop star Swift, the audience was visibly uneasy. Later in the evening, Beyoncé invited Swift back onstage in order to complete her moment in the spotlight – a gracious gesture that showed fans she didn’t sign off on West’s awkward interruption.
A few years after the VMA’s incident, West married Kim Kardashian. Therefore, in 2016, when the bad blood between Swift and West reignited, Kardashian was caught squarely in the middle. One of West’s featured songs that year, “Famous,” had a reference to Swift – calling her a name that many would take issue with. Swift spoke out and said that she was never made aware of the lyric in question, although she did say that she and West had spoken about the song prior to its release. Kardashian West then made a statement, claiming that Taylor Swift “totally knew” about the song and was just trying to “play the victim.”

Kanye West didn’t back away from his aggressive stance when it came to Swift. When he released the music video for “Famous,” viewers quickly caught sight of a naked mannequin that clearly was meant to represent Taylor Swift. While Swift fans were outraged, Kardashian took the opportunity to talk about the feud on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and even leaked part of a phone conversation between Swift and West, where Swift tells West that it is “really nice” of him to consult with her before releasing the song.
In the past several years, both Swift and Kardashian have remained fairly silent about the feud, with Kardashian even telling Andy Cohen that everyone has “moved on.” However, in March 2020, a source leaked what is supposedly the full phone conversation between West and Swift, where they discuss the song “Famous.” Fans noted that nowhere in the call does West ask Swift for her permission to call her the expletive that caused all the drama in the first place. Swift’s response to the leaked call was immediate – she posted on social media that now it is clear that she was telling the truth the whole time.

Kim Kardashian West also responded to the leaked phone conversation. Kardashian claimed that Swift had chosen to “reignite an old exchange” and it was very “self-serving” of her to do so – she also claimed that she had never edited the previously leaked phone call and that she will not be speaking out about the incident again. Fans, however, were not pleased with Kardashian’s response.
On Reddit, many fans claimed that Kardashian shouldn’t have even responded to the drama and that she should have just “let it pass.” Others called it “embarrassing” that she’s still holding on to the incident. Furthermore, a few critics stated that she’s clearly a hypocrite for stating that she doesn’t care about the drama and then speaking about it anyway. Whether or not this is truly the end of the feud between Swift and Kardashian, only time will tell – but fans are pretty clearly over it.
