Jaden Smith and Tyler, the Creator, have frequently kept their fans wondering about the nature of their relationship. 

Smith and Tyler’s friendship began in the 2010s. Since then, the rappers appeared together in music videos and at several festivals. The pair hinted that there might be something more between them back in 2018.

Jaden Smith first opened up about his relationship with Tyler, the Creator via Twitter 

Although some of Smith’s past relationship rumors included Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Sofia Richie, Smith revealed his love life in 2015. The “Cabin Fever” rapper shared via Twitter that he formed a connection with Tyler. The pair became friends several years prior, but Smith claimed they shared something more between them. 

“@f*cktyler I Think I’m In Love With You,” Smith tweeted. “I Don’t Know I’m Still Figuring It Out But In The Meantime, Happy Birthday.”

After experiencing a few rumblings online following his tweet, Smith didn’t share any details about his relationship with Tyler. However, the actor decided to profess his admiration for Tyler again in 2018. Smith proclaimed his love for Tyler at Tyler’s event, Camp Flog Gnaw.

“I just want to say Tyler, the Creator is the best friend in the world, and I love him, so f—ing much,” Smith said on stage, as captured on video by fans. “And I want to tell you guys something. Tyler doesn’t want to say, but Tyler’s my mother f—ing boyfriend, and he’s been my mother f—ing boyfriend my whole f—ing life.”

“Tyler the Creator is my f—ing boyfriend. It’s true! I just want to say Tyler, the Creator is the best friend in the world, and I love him, so f—ing much,” Smith said on stage, as captured on video by fans. “And I want to tell you guys something. Tyler doesn’t want to say, but Tyler’s my mother f—ing boyfriend, and he’s been my mother f—ing boyfriend my whole f—ing life. Tyler the Creator is my f—ing boyfriend. It’s true! Tyler the Creator is my f—ing boyfriend. OK? If you take anything away from this f—ing show, that’s what you need to take away.”

Tyler responded to Smith’s announcement by calling him “crazy” on Twitter

Smith followed his Camp Flog Gnaw announcement by tweeting Tyler and said their “secret” was “out,” and they didn’t need to hide that they’re together. In January 2020, Smith also referred to Tyler as his “boyfriend” after Tyler won a Grammy for Best Rap Album.

Smith’s January tweet regarding Tyler became a hot topic on Reddit. Several users on the website shared if they really believe Smith and Tyler are an item. Some fans believe that the pair are really together based on their history. Others felt the couple are just friends and have been joking about dating each other the entire time. 

“I have two friends who always joked about dating, switching their status on Facebook on April fools day among other things. They are now married with two kids,” one user pointed out regarding Smith and Tyler. 

“Every joke holds a little truth,” another Reddit user claimed. 

“Something I’ll never get is why people still seem to think they’re dating because it’s pretty obvious Jaden is joking whenever he says that sh*t, and Tyler has repeatedly denied it even on Jaden’s own song,” one fan said.
