Thanks to an announcement from Variety, fans learned that there’s another version of Peter Pan on the way. This one will reportedly feature Jude Law as the infamous Captain Hook and fans have mixed feelings, to say the least. Here are a few fan-favorite adaptations of Peter Pan and Captain Hook’s story, from Once Upon a Time to Pan.

Disney announced Jude Law will portray Captain Hook in the ‘Peter Pan’ remake

Thanks to an exclusive from Variety, Disney fans learned that there’s another version of this classic story in the works. This one will, reportedly feature Jude Law (formerly of Marvel’s Captain Marvel) as the antagonist of the story, the bitter crocodile-hating Captain Hook.

Although it may still be a few months until fans see this adaptation, some took to social media sharing their thoughts on this casting choice. Some even shared a few of their favorite actors behind this character, who appeared in a few different movies and television shows throughout the years.

Captain Hook appeared in a few other Disney works and remakes, including ‘Jake and the Neverland Pirates’

On Disney’s television network Disney Junior, characters like Nana, Wendy, John, and Michael reappeared for a cartoon series. Jake and the Neverland Pirates told more stories of the lost boys and their adventures fighting against Captain Hook. However, this wouldn’t be the first or the last time the character appeared in Disney content.

Robin Williams starred in another ‘Peter Pan’ remake

A few decades after Disney premiered its animated movie, the movie titled Hook premiered, featuring Robin Williams as Peter Pan. The 1991 film featured Dustin Hoffman as the title character, Captain Hook. For some, this is the best version of Peter Pan and Captain Hook’s story.

“I will always love this movie no matter how goofy and cheesy it is. Dustin Hoffman will forever be my favorite iteration of the nefarious, scheming Captain Hook. Robin Williams is charming and endearing as Peter Pan. Bob Hoskins is an affable oaf with a plan as Smee. #Hook,” one Twitter user said.

The remake ‘Pan’ featured Hugh Jackman

Another adaption of Peter Pan premiered a few years later, this one telling the story of Peter Pan before he became the leader of the Lost Boys. Pan featured Garrett Hedlund as Captain Hook, although in this version, he’s friends with Peter Pan. Hugh Jackman even portrayed one villain named Blackbeard.

Another actor portrayed Captain Hook for ‘Once Upon a Time’

ABC even created a television show based on some of the characters in Disney and in fairy tales, titled Once Upon a Time. That included Captain Hook for a large portion of the series, with the character portrayed by Colin O’Donoghue.

“Since Peter Pan is trending, cast him as Captain Hook you cowards,” one Twitter user said, posting still images from Once Upon a Time.
