IU and Suga’s ‘eight’ is both a sad and uplifting song

When one first listens to “eight,” the song sounds upbeat, but the lyrics add complexity to the tone of the song. It conveys a message many can relate to, which is that the bright future one imagined did not happen as planned. To cope, one escapes through happy memories of their past.

“Even as time goes by, still / At that place which takes hold of me / Under an orange sun / We dance with no shadows / There is no such thing as decided goodbyes / Meet me in that memory that was once beautiful / Forever young,” IU sings.

“Island, yeah here is an island, a small one that we each other made / Yeah, um, forever young, the word ‘forever’ is a sandcastle,” Suga sings.

Suga of BTS is credited as a producer on IU’s song

On IU’s “eight,” Suga is not only a featured artist, he is credited as a producer of the song. The BTS rapper is also credited as a composer, arranger, and synthesizer of “eight,” and for the song’s lyrics and piano. Because of this, BTS fans are proud of Suga for his dedication and versatility as an artist.

“the way yoongi is one of the most versatile artists?? every song he produced sounds different from each other but you KNOW its prod. SUGA like he is SO insane, really the producer of the year and once again he made the collab of the year. prod. SUGA never disappoints,” one fan tweeted.

“THE VERSATILITY YOONGI GAVE AS A SINGER RAPPER SONGWRITER PRODUCER FROM HIS COLLAB IN SONG REQUEST, SUGA’S INTERLUDE, EIGHT & HIS RECENT SOLOS FROM BTS ALBUM, SEESAW & INTERLUDE: SHADOW. I CANT IMAGINE WHAT HIS NEXT MIXTAPE WOULD SOUND LIKE HES JUST SO AMAZING @BTS_twt,” tweeted a fan.
