Fans Made an Interesting Observation About Kendall Jenner’s Friend Group
The Kardashian-Jenner family is made up of some of the most popular celebrities around. They became famous via the TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians which allows fans into their private lives. As such, it is not surprising that people are constantly watching and dissecting the Kardashian-Jenners’ every move.
One thing that has been fascinating to a number of fans is Kendall Jenner’s friend group. She is one of the most popular models around, which means she is close with other high-profile models. However, there is one interesting observation fans have been making about who Jenner chooses to be friends with.
Who are Kendall Jenner’s friends?
Jenner is friends with quite a few celebrities, including other popular models. Fans who follow her social media accounts might notice famous faces like Hailey Bieber, Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Cara Delevingne popping up in many pictures.
Jenner seems to be especially close with Bieber. The two of them go way back, with Jenner even admitting she might have “stolen” Bieber away from her younger sister, Kylie. Bieber also shared she and Jenner used to live together in New York City when they were starting out as models. The two of them even got matching tattoos to commemorate their friendship.
Fans think Jenner gets along best with ‘nepotism models’
Of course, most people might not put much thought to why they are friends with certain folks and not others. However, observant fans have noticed that Jenner’s friend group seems to consist of what they call “nepotism models.”
In the past few years, there have been concerns that the modeling industry is being taken over by so-called “nepotism models”—girls and guys who are only booking runway shows and landing prestigious gigs because of their last names and family connections.
Jenner herself seems to be the poster child for this phenomenon, and her fellow model friends have been branded this title as well. Hailey Bieber, for example, is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin. Gigi and Bella Hadid are daughters of real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid and TV star Yolanda Hadid. Cara Delevingne comes from a wealthy English family and her older sister, Poppy, was a model herself.
As such, fans speculate that Jenner seems to unable to be friends with models who had more humble upbringings since they can’t relate to each other.
“I wonder if Kendall hangs out with them more than other models because other models can’t really relate to having their careers handed to them? Or maybe Kendall can’t relate to models who haven’t had the help of their families in their careers,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
Meanwhile, another commenter pointed out it is possible “models without ‘rich family’ background may mock Kendall behind back.”
Jenner has received criticism from other models
There is quite a lot of evidence behind the idea that other models might not accept Jenner as one of them. When Jenner was first making waves in the modeling industry in 2014, reports came out that she was being bullied by fellow models, with some of them even putting out their cigarettes in her drink.
Model Arisce Wanzer even wrote an open letter to Jenner for The Blot explaining why people felt it was unfair for her to be in the industry and taking jobs away from other hard-working models. She wrote:
“Imagine you’re from a small town and/or Third-World country where your only way to get out of your current social class, achieve your dreams, get a green card or just gain better work conditions is to become a high-fashion model… But wait, isn’t that a reality TV star over there in hair and makeup?… What is she doing here? Did she take the subway? Was she at the casting? What agency is she with?… Her mommy surely called a top agency, got her in the door and the design houses just chose to milk her fame like the cash cow that it is.”
Although it is not clear if this is the reason why Jenner is friends with certain models and not others, fans believe it is plausible.
