Fans React to Billie Eilish’s Response to Kanye West Demanding Apology For Travis Scott Diss
Kanye West recently went on a social media rant, and one of his targets was Billie Eilish. The Donda rapper seemed to believe Eilish dissed Travis Scott at one of her live shows. West publicly demanded an apology and claimed he wouldn’t perform at Coachella until the pop star apologized. Here’s what happened and how fans are reacting.
Kanye West accused Billie Eilish of dissing Travis Scott
On Feb. 5, Billie Eilish stopped her Happier Than Ever tour show in Atlanta, Georgia to help a fan struggling to breathe.
Eilish paused the show to make sure her fan was safe and had an inhaler before continuing to sing. “Give her some time. Don’t crowd. Relax, relax, it’s OK,” Eilish urged calmly from the front of the stage. “We’re taking care of our people, hold on. I wait for people to be OK before I keep going.” The “Bad Guy” singer has halted shows in the past when she noticed problems in the audience.
Kanye West and Billie Eilish are scheduled to headline Coachella in April. On Feb. 10, West threatened in a since-deleted Instagram post that he won’t perform at the music festival unless Eilish apologizes to Travis Scott.
Billie Eilish responded to Kanye West, said she ‘literally never said a thing about Travis [Scott]’
On Nov. 5, 10 people were killed and hundreds injured at Travis Scott’s Astroworld show in Houston, Texas. The audience members who died were 9 to 27 years old. The crowd was packed so tightly that they couldn’t breathe, and many were trampled.
There has been a lot of speculation about whether the tragedy was preventable and if Travis Scott should be held accountable.
Billie Eilish never mentioned Scott or the Astroworld tragedy when she stopped her show, but Kanye West apparently believed she was dissing his fellow rapper.
He posted a screenshot of a headline that read, “Billie Eilish Dissed Travis Scott at Her Concert After She Stopped The Show to Give Her Fan an Inhaler! ‘I Wait For the People to be Okay Before I Keep Going.’”
“COME ON BILLIE WE LOVE YOU PLEASE APOLOGIZE TO TRAV AND TO THE FAMILIES OF THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES,” West captioned the image.
“NO ONE INTENDED THIS TO HAPPEN TRAV DIDN’T HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING WHEN HE WAS ON STAGE AND WAS VERY HURT BY WHAT HAPPENED AND YES TRAV WILL BE WITH ME AT COACHELLA BUT NOW I NEED BILLIE TO APOLOGIZE BEFORE I PERFORM.”
Eilish responded to West by commenting on his Instagram post. “Literally never said a thing about Travis,” she wrote. “Was just helping a fan.”
Most fans are taking the pop star’s side on social media
Fans are commenting on the interaction between Kanye West and Billie Eilish, and most of them are defending the “Ocean Eyes” singer.
One fan tweeted screenshots showing that Travis Scott liked West’s post about Eilish and captioned it, “Travis Scott is 30. Kanye West is 44. Billie Eilish is f—in 20. Why are two grown men acting like toddlers in a mental asylum beefing with a girl half their age over nothing? Truly pathetic.”
Many fans are comparing West’s beef with Eilish to his 2009 VMAs scandal with Taylor Swift. “Kanye West ‘calling out’ Billie Eilish publicly for something she didn’t even do, reminds me a lot of what he did to Taylor Swift,” one fan tweeted. “Just further proves KANYE is the problem, not the women’s image he’s trying to damage. (Even his own wife and daughter at this point).”
Another fan tweeted, “The way Kanye West tries to control and manipulate women with demands, harassment, changing their physical appearance, or using intimidation is f—ing gross. Billie Eilish should tell him to go f— himself. Fr tho.”
Some of West’s fans supported him in his Instagram comments, but the rapper has deleted all of his posts about Eilish.
