Fans Say Bradley Cooper Has Been Jennifer Garner’s ‘Back-Up Plan’ for Years
Jennifer Garner is living her best life despite everything she’s been through. The Instagram mom of three, aspiring TV chef, and loveable rom-com star went through an incredibly public divorce from Ben Affleck but eventually found love again. With news of a breakup from John Miller, followed by a trip to the beach with Alias co-star Bradley Cooper, fans can’t help but root for this could-be celebrity relationship.
Jennifer Garner broke up with her boyfriend
In early August, news broke that Garner quietly split from her boyfriend, Cali Group CEO John Miller. The two began dating in early 2018.
In Touch Weekly stated that the coronavirus pandemic may have played a role. With social distancing and self-quarantine rules in place, their relationship may have been strained.
Various gossip sites reported problems within the relationship before the pandemic.
“He was ready for marriage and she just couldn’t commit,” a source told Us Weekly. “They parted on very amicable terms.”
Regardless of when the official breakup all went down, all anyone can focus on is either her ex, Affleck, and his girlfriend, Ana de Armas, or the fact that Garner reunited with Cooper for a day at the beach.
The two claim they’re ‘just friends’ amid beach ‘date’ rumors
In early August — before reports surfaced of Garner’s breakup with Miller — the Alias star was spotted with Cooper and his 3-year-old daughter Lea De Seine (with ex-girlfriend Irina Shayk) at the Malibu beach.
The sight alone doesn’t indicate the two were “relationship official” because they’ve been friends for years and often spend time together — even with significant others at any given time.
The same day, Garner’s breakup became public sparking rumors of Garner and Cooper’s alleged love affair. With both reportedly single, fans petitioned for the couple everywhere possible.
The same day, Page Six reported that a source close to both actors said they are not an item to clarify things.
“[Cooper and Garner] are friends and have been forever,” that source said, adding there is “no truth to anything else.”
Some say Cooper has been Garner’s back-up plan all along
Regardless of Garner and Cooper’s flat-out denial of anything romantic going on between them, their history, as some say, points to an Alias end-game.
Garner spoke about Cooper at the American Cinematheque Awards in November 2018 where he was honored. In her speech, she remembered the timeline of the friendship.
“I took him home and made him dinner. I’m still making him dinner,” she said, via Entertainment Tonight.
She continued: “There is something about people who are the same in success and failure that makes us love them. Tells us, we know the very heart of them. I know the heart and stomach of Bradley Cooper.”
From 2001-2006, Garner and Cooper starred in the hit series, Alias — long before her 10-year marriage to Affleck ended. In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, Garner revealed that Affleck is “the love of my life.”
“I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,” she said in 2016, following their split. “And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again.”
“You can’t have these three babies and so much of what we had. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous.”
That’s a lot to compete with. Even still, fans are holding out hope for a Garner-Cooper relationship.
“Question of the day: what is your favorite comfort movie or show? I have spent at least 100 hours of my life re-watching Alias episodes as Jennifer Garner mastered laser evasion, running in wigs, and Farsi. And keeping Bradley Cooper as her backup plan,” Kate Bowler tweeted.
For now, responses to this tweet are irrelevant as the two are committed to preserving their friendship. But in some universe, somewhere, Sydney Bristowe and Will Tippin live happily ever after.
