Fans Think 1 Aspect of Meghan Markle’s Wedding Should Have Been a Huge ‘Red Flag’ to the Royal Family
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry decided to step down from being senior royals in early 2020. Since then, there have been many reports about Meghan’s struggles in the royal family, which include her inability to follow traditional rules and her alleged conflict with other royals.
Many royal followers have also looked back in time to spot any hints and clues that could have foreshadowed the events to come. In particular, fans are now focusing on Meghan and Harry’s wedding, and they believe there was a “red flag” in front of the royal family.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding was a Hollywood affair
Meghan and Harry’s wedding was different from most other royal weddings in the amount of Hollywood celebrities involved. Because Meghan was an actor before marrying Harry, there were many movie and TV stars invited to the celebration.
Naturally, Meghan’s co-stars from her show Suits showed up at royal wedding. Other famous faces include Serena Williams, Priyanka Chopra, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Oprah Winfrey, David and Victoria Beckham, and George and Amal Clooney.
Some celebrities reportedly did not even know Meghan and Harry
While some royal watchers believed Meghan might have been close with the celebrities invited to her wedding, it turns out not every A-list celebrity there even knew the couple.
Recently, journalist Rachel Johnson claimed that George and Amal Clooney did not know Meghan and Harry prior to the royal wedding, despite the fact that the Clooneys were seated at a “prime pew.”
“There’s a story doing the rounds that while Carolyn Bartholomew, Diana’s former flatmate, was waiting for the wedding service to start, she turned to the couple alongside her and asked how they knew Harry or Meghan,” Johnson wrote for AirMail. “’We don’t,’ the Clooneys answered brightly.”
Fans think the celebrity-filled guest list should have been a ‘red flag’
Upon the news of the Clooneys not knowing Meghan and Harry before the wedding, fans began questioning what this says about the Sussexes. On Reddit, royal followers believe it should have been a “red flag” that Meghan did not have any family members at the wedding aside from her mom but was okay with inviting A-list celebrities she reportedly did not know.
“It would have looked so good to have her uncle at the wedding to show her ‘American family’ and lessen the drama about her Dad’s side,” one person wrote. “Just having her mother and then strategically picked celebrities is a HUGE red flag that I refused to see early on. I wonder if it was a discussion between courtiers beforehand? Did any of the royals think it was weird?”
Another person also said, “I’ll admit I believed that they were at least friendly acquaintances. Why would you invite people to your wedding and give them prominent seating if you don’t even know them?!?!?”
Meghan and Harry’s team has not commented on these reports about the Clooneys, but it seems the two couples did eventually become closer after the royal wedding. George often defended Meghan against negative press and Amal reportedly gave Meghan parenting advice.
