Fawcett died from anal cancer on June 25, 2009. Before her death, Fawcett enlisted her best friend, Alana Stewart, to film her cancer battle in a documentary titled Farrah’s Story, reports The Guardian. Stewart said the actress wasn’t shy about filming her lowest points. “She was projectile vomiting and she looks up at me and says, ‘Why aren’t you filming this? This is what cancer is’,” said Stewart in the film.
Stewart told ABC News it was tough to accept Farrah’s diagnosis. The actress was well loved by everyone, so it was hard to imagine someone like her could suffer a disease so vicious. Stewart said she learned the hard way that cancer doesn’t care who you are. “Farrah was the last person that thought about getting sick,” she said. “Farrah was the Golden Girl to everyone, so it was such a shock, to the whole world, when she got cancer. It kind of goes to show you that you know, cancer doesn’t play favorites.”
