‘Fast & Furious’: Tyrese Gives An Update on His Feud With Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson: We ‘Peaced Up’
There’s a new update in regards to the fallout between Tyrese and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. As many know, the Fast & Furious co-stars have been locked into a bitter feud for years. But it looks like things are starting to simmer down.
Here’s a look back at the drama between the two and what Tyrese had to say about their relationship now.
How Tyrese’s feud with The Rock began
According to E! News, problems emerged in 2017, when the ninth installment of the franchise got delayed amid production on Hobbs & Shaw, a spinoff built around The Rock’s character.
Around the time of the news, Tyrese posted a now-deleted message calling out his co-star. “If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my sprinter,” he wrote. “I don’t wanna hear from you until you remember what we talked about. I’m on your timeline cause you’re not responding to my text messages – #FastFamily is just that a family…….. We don’t fly solo.”
He continued to blast The Rock in other posts, even going as far as threatening to leave the movie. He would eventually apologize for his antics, placing blame on medication. But he reignited the drama in 2019, when he appeared to take a jab at The Rock in regards to the spinoff’s box office numbers.
“Breaking up the family clearly doesn’t have the value that one would assume it does,” he wrote in part.
For his part, The Rock has never really bothered to address the feud. But in a 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, he admitted he was “disappointed” with Tyrese because he had previously considered him a friend.
Tyrese has provided an update on his feud with The Rock
Tyrese was on Stir Crazy with Josh Horowitz in a recently published interview when he opened up about the status of their relationship.
“Me and The Rock peaced up by the way. We talked for like four hours about three weeks ago,” he shared. “It was great.”
The Rock has yet to acknowledge his comments, but Tyrese previously said on The Fat Joe Show in August that he believed the former wrestler had understood his past comments, per Complex. He also said he wished him the best and did not have any ill will toward him.
“He’s a great father and now a husband and, you know, literally if you look at footage and photos all over the internet, he’s a giant bear. He’s just a great, great guy with a big heart and we just kinda got into a situation that ended up playing out for the world to see,” he added.
Fans reacted to Tyrese’s comments with pure joy
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote, “Good for them….life is to short.”
Another person seemed to agree, writing: “There are more important things happening in the world.”
Like so many others, we’re also glad these two were able to move past the drama. Let’s just hope it stays this way.
