‘Fatal Family Feuds’: A Father Fears the Worst When His Daughter Disappears [Exclusive Clip]
When a young mother vanishes after a meeting with her soon-to-be ex-husband, her loved ones, including her retired cop father, fear the worst, in the March 2 episode of the Oxygen True Crime series Fatal Family Feuds.
Heather DeWild’s father worries about his daughter’s meeting with her ex
Heather DeWild was just days away from finalizing her divorce from her husband Daniel DeWild when she agreed to stop by his house late one morning to pick up health insurance cards for their 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.
Heather and Daniel had a “contentious” relationship, particularly when it came to their children, explains Russ Boatright, a senior investigator with the Jefferson County, Colorado, DA’s office, in a clip from the episode “Killer Custody Battle.”
“Daniel was supposed to produce insurance cards for the children,” says Robert Weiner, a former senior chief deputy DA for Jefferson County. “Heather’s father was very concerned that she not even go over there, knowing that the divorce was going to be finalized in a couple of days. But she wanted to get these insurance cards quickly.”
The trip from Heather’s parents’ house, where she was living, to her ex’s home should have taken a couple of hours at most. So, when she did not return by late afternoon, her family became concerned.
Heather’s ex claims she left his house hours earlier

Heather’s mother, Carol, called Daniel. He told her that Heather had stopped by but then left to go shopping, leaving the children in his care. He claimed to have not seen her since. That immediately raised alarm bells.
“What really triggered Carol was when she found out the kids were still there,” Boatright says. “Heather would never leave the kids alone with him in an unscheduled visitation. [Carol] immediately told Daniel she was coming over to pick up the kids.”
When Heather’s sister heard that her sibling had gone missing, she also had a bad feeling.
“Instantly, my stomach just dropped,” Rebecca Barger says. “My mom said Daniel didn’t seem bothered in any way. But she knew something was wrong.”
What happened to Heather? And did Daniel play in her disappearance? The surprising answer involves a pair of twins holding a dark secret that threatens to destroy their close bond.
