‘Fear Street Part 2: 1978’: What Happened to Sheila?
On July 9, 2021, Netflix released Fear Street Part 2: 1978, bringing viewers back to summer camp in the late ’70s. The second installment in the horror trilogy told the story of Camp Nightwing, where camp counselor Tommy Slater (portrayed by McCabe Slye) suddenly snapped and murdered several campers. Of course, fans know that Tommy didn’t randomly go crazy; he became possessed by the Shadyside Witch, Sarah Fier. The massacre was part of a centuries-old curse on the small Ohio town.
The camp’s story introduced viewers to a handful of new characters, including Ziggy Berman (Sadie Sinks) and her bully, Sheila (Chiara Aurelia). While Sheila didn’t have too many scenes in the slasher flick, some fans still wondered about her fate. Did Sheila survive in Fear Street: 1978?

Who was Sheila in ‘Fear Street: 1978’?
Viewers met Sheila in the first scene at Camp Nightwing. She and her friends chased Ziggy into the woods after discovering that Ziggy stole $10 from Sheila. It quickly became apparent that Sheila acted as the leader of the group, demanding her friends to tie Ziggy up on a tree. Sheila accused Ziggy of being a witch and pulled out a lighter to burn her, but camp counselors found the group and stopped her.
Later, fans learned that Sheila hailed from the peaceful town of Sunnyvale, while Ziggy lived in Shadyside. The two towns have long feuded with each other; Sunnyvale kids often mocked Shadysiders for their town’s twisted history of serial killers.
Mystery and suspense fans may recognize Sheila’s actor, Chiara Aurelia, from another 2021 role. She starred in Freeform’s Cruel Summer as Jeannette, a young teen accused of covering up another girl’s kidnapping in order to take over her popular life. Aurelia also appeared in Tell Me Your Secrets, Gerald’s Game, and more.
Did Sheila survive the Camp Nightwing killer?
In an attempt to get back at Sheila for the incident in the woods, Ziggy teamed up with Nick Goode (Ted Sutherland) to plan a prank. They lured Sheila into the outhouse and dumped bugs on her from a bucket hanging above her head. Then, they locked her inside the building.
Ziggy, Nick, and the other campers soon realized that Tommy murdered a camper and was on the loose, looking for other victims. Ziggy, suddenly remembering that they left Sheila trapped, ran back to the outhouse to rescue her. However, Sheila attacked Ziggy, and Ziggy pushed her into a stall, where she was knocked unconscious.
Tommy entered the outhouse and Ziggy managed to escape, leaving Sheila behind. That was the last fans saw of the Sunnyvale resident, but it’s unclear if Tommy killed her.
At the moment, the theory on Reddit is that Tommy only targeted Shadyside kids, not Sunnyvale, so Sheila likely survived. Perhaps she woke up and escaped on the bus with the other campers, or police found her in the outhouse the next day. It’s also possible that Tommy did not kill her, but Ziggy’s push accidentally did.
Will fans see Sheila again in ‘Fear Street: 1666’?
Fear Street Part 3: 1666 releases on July 16, 2021. The Fear Street trilogy’s finale will take viewers to the year 1666, presumably when the Shadyside Witch’s curse began. Many cast members from the first two films will return to play other roles, but it looks like Aurelia is not on the list.
On IMDb, there’s no indication that an adult version of Sheila will appear, either. Perhaps she’s off living safely in Sunnyvale, staying as far away from Shadyside as possible. Of course, Fear Street has already thrown several twists at fans, so who knows if Sheila will make a surprise stop in Shadyside?
