Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were once quite friendly with David and Victoria Beckham. The former soccer star and his wife have known the royal family for years and were reportedly eager to welcome Meghan to the U.K.

It was reported that Victoria was even giving the duchess names of her favorite hairdressers, stylists, and spas to go to in and around London. But when the tabloids started to print stories about the help Meghan was getting, she believed Victoria was leaking information to the press and had Harry call David to ask about it. The accusation and questioning from the prince left David “furious.”

It was also claimed in Tom Bower’s book Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors that the duke asked the Inter Miami FC co-founder to fly 22 hours to Australia to attend an Invictus Games event with him but had no intention of ever meeting him there. According to Bower, Harry decided to keep his distance from David because Meghan did not want any “competition” in the media from him or Victoria.

However, during the former Suits star‘s recent trip to Colombia, fans noticed that Meghan sent what appeared to be an olive branch to Victoria, but the former Spice Girl didn’t seem touched. Here’s more on that and how these ladies may be directly competing against in each other in 2025.

Victoria appears to have snubbed Meghan’s ‘olive branch’

While speaking onstage for the Responsible Digital Future at EAN University in Bogota, Colombia, on August 15, Meghan donned brown trousers by La Ligne, caramel heels by Aquazzura, and a silk button-down shirt designed by Victoria Beckham. Some saw that blouse choice as an olive branch to the duchess’s former pal.

When celebrities wear pieces from her collection Victoria will post about them on her Instagram Stories. But so far, she has not acknowledged that Meghan wore her design, and given all the news surrounding the Sussexes’ trip there’s no way Victoria hasn’t heard about it by now.

The women will be competing for viewers

As Meghan’s fans know, she will be debuting her own cooking and gardening show on Netflix. The description for the program revealed that it “celebrates the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship.” The series is directed by Michael Steed with Meghan and Chanel Pysnik serving as executive producers alongside showrunner Leah Hariton.

So what does the Duchess of Sussex’s show have to with Victoria? Well on Aug. 21, Netflix announced a collaboration with none other than Posh Spice, saying: “A new documentary series following Victoria Beckham and her fashion and beauty business is coming to Netflix! The series will tell the story of Victoria’s reinvention as a Creative Director of her own brand.”

The timing is making headlines as many believe the ladies will be pitted against each other for ratings. That’s because while Meghan’s show has already wrapped filming, its release date has been pushed back as the program is linked with her lifestyle brand which is facing copyright issues. Due to that, the streaming giant had no choice but to push the show back. It will reportedly air in “mid-2025.”

That means Meghan could go head-to-head with Victoria for ratings as the fashion designer’s series still needs to film and complete production so it certainly won’t be out before 2025. Therefore, the release dates of their shows could be quite close.
