It’s been a long few years since Chip and Joanna Gaines bid adieu to Fixer Upper, the hit HGTV renovation show that made them incredibly famous. The series lasted for five amazing seasons before the couple decided to take a break and focus on their kids and family instead.

But now Fixer Upper is coming back bigger and better than ever. The Gaineses delighted followers with the announcement of a brand new network, Magnolia, which would include a reboot of the original Fixer Upper. That premiere has now been delayed several times, but a new trailer proves it’s coming very soon.

It’s true that Chip and Joanna created a legacy with home renovations and big reveals. However, their new network as part of the Discovery family will include so many other types of shows as well. There will be cooking shows, gardening shows, and shows about people overcoming physical challenges.

The Gaineses wanted Magnolia Network to be a lifestyle network that would appeal to a range of interests. But that doesn’t mean they forgot their core audience. Fans found out Fixer Upper was coming back in all its shiplap-covered glory.

New episodes of the reboot, which is called Fixer Upper: Welcome Home, plus episodes of Joanna’s new cooking show Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines will begin streaming on Discovery+ beginning Jan. 4.

The trailer for ‘Fixer Upper: Welcome Home’ has a surprising revelation

By now fans are well aware of Chip’s wild antics, which Joanna endures with more patience than most. But one of the most surprising tidbits from the new Fixer Upper trailer revealed that Chip may have signed on for the Fixer Upper reboot without his wife’s knowledge.

The clip shows the couple having a moment together. “What did you do Chip?” Joanna asks Chip while they stand in front of a dilapidated looking house.

“I signed us up for another season of Fixer Upper,” Chip replies

“Are you serious?” Joanna says, sounding shocked. But then she quickly takes it in stride. “Can I tell you a little secret? I kind of missed it,” she admits.

There’s a good chance the segment was staged for publicity. However, it wouldn’t be too surprising if Chip really did sign on for the series as a surprise for Joanna.
