Crunchyroll is having an exciting month, with the anime streamer announcing it would absorb Funimation’s library and later unveiling an impressive lineup for spring 2022. But as a number of new anime make their way onto Crunchyroll, it seems many are leaving the platform. Come March 31, viewers will no longer have access to more than 50 titles.

Crunchyroll revealed on March 24 that a number of anime currently on its platform would be leaving before the month is through. Starting on March 31, 50-plus titles will no longer be available on the service. There’s no word on why Crunchyroll is bidding farewell to these series, but it may have to do with streaming rights.

As Comic Book Resources points out, Sentai Filmworks is the worldwide distributor for many of the titles on Crunchyroll’s list. That could mean they’ll move over to HIDIVE. In fact, Anime News Network indicates a number of them are already streaming there.

With that in mind, we may see increased competition between the two services. But which anime are leaving Crunchyroll in March 2022?

Which anime are leaving Crunchyroll?

Most notably, the first two seasons of popular anime Food Wars are slated to leave Crunchyroll on March 31. Food Wars premiered back in 2015, and it’s since become a fan favorite. Although it’s no doubt sad saying goodbye to all the anime listed above, a number of titles have joined Crunchyroll recently as well — and they’ll help fill the space left by the series leaving.

Among the shows that have come to Crunchyroll following its merge with Funimation are Assassination Classroom, The Promised Neverland, Noragami, and WONDER EGG PRIORITY. And that’s just scratching the surface.
