Hip-hop mogul Sean”Diddy” Combs temporarily resides in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after his September 2024 arrest. The MDC is known for its difficult conditions, and Combs was reportedly in solitary confinement when he first arrived. A former inmate recently alleged that Combs has “groupies” in jail now that he’s been behind bars for several months. Here’s what the inmate claimed.

A former inmate at the Metropolitan Detention Center said Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has ‘groupies’ in jail

Sean “Diddy” Combs will likely stay behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn until his trial in May 2025. Combs pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. While the conditions at the MDC are reportedly difficult to live with, Combs is making it work.

According to a former inmate allegedly held in the same housing unit as the hip-hop mogul, Combs has other inmates who want to stay on his good side. The inmate spoke to FOX 5 reporter and Street Soldiers host Lisa Evers about what he witnessed.

“His energy is super strong,” the inmate said of Combs, adding that the hip-hop star appears “super comfortable” in jail. He explained that Combs resides in a dormitory-like cell with over 20 men. “He’s cool … he always wants everybody to be happy.” The inmate noted that Combs “walks around” and tells the other men to “smile.”

“He was cool; he had a lot of energy,” the inmate noted of playing ball with Combs for recreation. “He won every game.”

As for the other men, the inmate noted that they acted like “groupies” around Combs. “They [were] being around him, jealous of another dude because he’s closer to another dude,” he said. “If there was a dude that was making his bed for him or doing something special for him, they would hate on a dude like that.”

The inmate noted that the food was ‘really horrible’

The former inmate from the Metropolitan Detention Center who spoke to Lisa Evers noted that the food in jail was “really horrible.” This matches what Combs’ lawyer said.

“I think the food’s probably the roughest part of it,” attorney Marc Agnifilo told reporters, according to People.

Some reports suggested Combs wasn’t eating in jail for several possible reasons. He might’ve feared someone poisoning his food — or, the prison offerings could’ve been just as horrible as everyone says. However, TMZ reported that Combs was eating normally while behind bars. The outlet noted that a source close to the mogul said Combs does not fear another inmate poisoning him. Given what the former inmate said, this adds up, as it seems Combs has more friends than enemies in the MDC.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs might’ve expected more help from his friends outside of jail

Sean “Diddy” Combs might have “groupies” in jail who are willing to stay on his good side. However, Combs might be disappointed regarding his support outside of jail. Celebrities appear to be distancing themselves from Combs, as they don’t want any association with the mogul’s crimes. A source told In Touch Weekly that Combs is considered “radioactive” in the celebrity world.

“It’s not like they’ve been going around trashing him, but everyone’s been giving him a seriously wide berth,” the insider explained. “He’s radioactive at this point. Even if he hasn’t been found guilty, his name is mud, and it would social suicide to have anything to do with him.”
