Former ‘Love & Hip Hop’ Star Amina Buddafly on How Peter Gunz Lacks as a Father
It’s been five years since Amina Buddaly and Peter Gunz split. Their love triangle was on full display during their time on Love & Hip Hop. Aside from the drama, Buddafly is happy she and Gunz made two beautiful daughters together. Still, Buddafly says Gunz can be more present as a father.
Amina Buddafly says she’s been operating as a single mother
Gunz’s relationship with Buddafly was messy from the beginning. The “Uptown” rapper began dating Buddafly while he was still in a relationship with his longtime love, Tara Wallace.
At the time, Wallace and Gunz had two sons together, but Buddafly only knew of one. Still, Buddafly continued dating Gunz, eventually marrying him, before they had children of their own.
Because Gunz was involved with two women at the time – and was a father to other children – Buddafly says he was physically absent often. In a recent interview with Tasha K, Buddadly says she’s been the primary parent from the beginning.
“I totally am [a single mom],” Buddafly laughed. “I’ve been one since, kind of since the beginning. Because even when I had my first, and I was still living with him, he was never there, he was never around. I’ve been a single mom from the beginning.”
Together, Gunz and Buddafly have two daughters: Cori and Bronx.

Buddafly lives in another part of the country, choosing to flee to LA after her split from Gunz. She says living on different coasts from her ex creates more difficulties.
“We have our arguments, but I just, I was the one who decided to move all the way to California, so obviously if I was still on the east coast he would be around more,” she told Shannon Mack TV in 2019.
Gunz is a father of 10, ranging from adulthood to toddler. His youngest daughter is with Buddafly. Having just two of Gunz’s 10 children, Buddafly admits it’s difficult in terms of co-parenting.

“I decided to have kids with somebody that already had eight other kids. It was [a red flag], but being in love, I just love so hard. So it’s like, I was just blind. I did not care,” she said to Shannon Mack.
“We didn’t plan the kids, it just happened and it was what it was. Afterward, I’m like, who’s really at fault,” she continued. “I had to look at myself because I could have chosen someone else to have kids with who maybe would have been around. But things happen and you’ve got to make the best of it. That’s why I don’t complain, but it’s still hard. I’m not going to act like everything’s great. I complain to him sometimes when I feel he could do more and do better. He knows.”
Buddafly and Gunz’s divorce was recently finalized. She says she tries to date but her career and being a single mother takes up much of her time.
