Former ‘Love & Hip Hop’ Star Benzino Arrested for Run-In With Ex-Girlfriend’s New Man
It’s been a while since former Love & Hip Hop star Benzino and his ex Althea Heart’s relationship became a headline. The on-again-off-again couple were recently on OWN’s relationship docu-series Love Goals to work on communication. Their relationship has its fair of drama that seems to continue with Benzino’s latest arrest. The Source Magazine founder is still in jail following a threatening confrontation with Heart’s new man.
Benzino and Althea Heart’s volatile relationship
Benzino and Heart became engaged quickly. Despite moving forward as soon-to-be husband and wife, the couple’s problems played out on Love & Hip Hop. It’s unclear if there’s been any infidelity throughout their on-again-off-again relationship but fights between the two are not uncommon.
In between several breakups, Heart was arrested…twice. Hollywood Life reveals in a 2018 article that Heart hit Benzino in front of police during a police check in regarding a domestic violence dispute. Heart’s charges were misdemeanor battery, including a $20,000 bail.

Heart was arrested in 2016 for a physical altercation with Benzino during a brief reconciliation. A VH1 report reveals that Heart told police she was defending herself against threats from Benzino against her family. Benzino took a restraining order against Heart after the incident.
The couple are parents to a son, Zino. Benzino accuses Heart of keeping their son away from him out of spite. After Love & Hip Hop, they participated in We TV’s Marriage Bootcamp to try and work through their issues.
Heart and Benzino also appeared on TV One’s The Next 15. On the show, she became furious with Benzino for spending time with his female co-stars. They also recently participated in OWN’s Love Goals, showing their toxic behaviors are still an issue.
During the show, the couple often traded verbal jabs and needed intervention from the relationship experts. They also refused to sleep in the same room together, leaving Benzino on the couch. The goal of them appearing on the show was to learn how to properly communicate and co-parent.
Reports reveal Benzino’s arrest after run-in with Althea Heart’s new man
According to reports, things between Benzino and Heart remain problematic. TMZ reports Benzino’s new charges are a result of a violent run-in with Heart’s new man.
The men have differing accounts of what happened. According to Heart’s new man, Benzino approached them while he and Heart were taking a stroll through the neighborhood. He claims Benzino began to harass and threaten him.
The man says he tried to leave the scene in his car but Benzino’s threats persisted. He then alleges that Benzino hit his truck multiple times with his fist. Cops say there are two dents in the driver’s side door as a result, leading to Benzino’s arrest.
Benzino is currently still in jail on a bail of $8450. His version of events differs. Benzino says he was in Heart’s neighborhood watching his son play tennis when the man threatened to shoot him.
