‘Friends’: What Lisa Kudrow Really Thinks About Phoebe

Which episode is Kudrow’s favorite? The actress goes all the way back to the beginning. Kudrow tells Entertainment Tonight her favorite episode is the Friends pilot. She refers to her first episode as “thrilling.”
“We were like little puppy dogs, just climbing all over each other and playing and playing games,” says Kudrow. “It was fun.”

Fans love Friends and many re-watch episodes every chance they get. However, Kudrow says she does not go back and watch old episodes. She tells Entertainment Tonight she can’t even remember the last time she saw an episode. The reason? Kudrow isn’t sure she will like what she sees. The actress is afraid to watch her performance. “I don’t watch it if it’s on,” says Kudrow. “I might not like myself [on the show], so I’d rather not risk that.”

Kudrow says she likes Phoebe and she doesn’t see her as unintelligent. Rather, Kudrow says Phoebe simply sees the world in a different way. According to Kudrow, Phoebe has a unique approach to life.
Phoebe was a nice person, she was fiery. There was more to her because she had more than two lines. But she was like a decent person, just a little fiery. I didn’t see Phoebe as someone who doesn’t get things or doesn’t pay attention. She was someone who just saw the world differently. Her take was completely different, but she was really committed to it.
Lisa Kudrow dealt with body image issues during her time on ‘Friends’
During a podcast with Marc Maron, Kudrow reveals she struggled with body image issues. She refers to herself as a “mountain of a woman,” saying she felt uncomfortable because she’s bigger and taller than her former co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox. Kudrow tells Maron she was very underweight at one point. She recalls being so thin that she often got sick with colds and other illnesses.
Lisa Kudrow says part of her ‘died’ when ‘Friends’ ended
Being part of the Friends cast was very special for Kudrow. She says it was difficult to leave the show. The ending of Friends after 10 years left a significant impact on the actress. During a Variety interview she says leaving the show was like a death:
It’s not like, “Oh, it was such hard work for 10 years,” says Kudrow. “It’s not that. It was that I know that show worked because we all committed to each other too. It wasn’t just committing to a role, committing to a contract. We all still love each other. Our cast is like that, and that’s why that worked. I think part of me died. I can’t do that again.”
