Queen Latifah is a fan of Kelly Clarkson on ‘The Voice’

Clarkson and Queen Latifah are giants in entertainment, so it was especially interesting for the audience to hear what the stars enjoy in their own homes. During the interview, they chatted about their favorite musical acts, from Prince to John Legend and beyond. Then Queen Latifah shifted into talking television by giving Clarkson props for her work.

“I love you on The Voice,” Queen Latifah told Clarkson. “Your energy and your choices in the people that you choose, and the love that you show them, I think it’s just incredible. Your energy is just unbelievable. And you’re somebody who can blow everybody away with your voice. So, for people to hear that from you, I know it’s just like, I know it means the world to them.”

At that point, Clarkson, who serves as a coach on the singing competition, burst into happy laughter and responded with appreciation for the kind words. “I just can’t believe that you know me or, like see me on TV. Like, I’m freaking out, and I’m gonna keep it cool. I’m gonna keep it chill. That was the best part of my day. So, thank you.”

Queen Latifah mixes repeats of ‘Chappelle’s Show’ and ‘Living Single’ into her TV playlist

Switching topics, Clarkson acknowledged that sometimes when she feels down, she writes songs. Queen Latifah shared that music by Prince often lifts her spirits. She also admitted with a chuckle that she has been revisiting classic episodes of Chappelle’s Show, the irreverent sketch comedy series with Dave Chappelle at the center.

“I’ve been watching a lot of Dave Chappelle reruns, and I’m sorry. They are so wrong and so right at the same time,” laughed Queen Latifah. “And I’ve been even catching my own show, Living Single. I’ve been watching Living Single reruns.”

The FOX sitcom ran for five seasons in the 1990s. It revolved around six twenty-something neighbors enjoying romantic escapades, business ventures, and the wittiest banter in Brooklyn, New York. “I love that show,” said Clarkson about Living Single.

From music to comedy to reality TV, the dialog continued with another reveal from The Queen. “I’ve been watching 90 Day Fiancé,” Queen Latifah confessed. “I don’t know how I got pulled into it.”

Clarkson divulged that she has heard of the reality show but has yet to watch it. “I know so many people that are hooked to 90 Day Fiancé. I’ve never seen it, but I keep thinking, ‘What?’ Like they don’t know these people, and they’re just like… I don’t know if I’ve ever been that lonely,” cracked Clarkson.

“And I’ve been lonely before,” Clarkson told Queen Latifah. “But I don’t know if I’d just risk it, on just like, yeah, you might work. Like, I don’t know. That just seems like, single isn’t that bad, right? I’m gonna come out with that show, Single Ain’t That Bad. We’re gonna show people’s single lives, just living their best lives, ‘cause people always hate on it.”
