Uncle Jesse could play plenty of instruments. When it came to sports like basketball, though, he struggled. That is, until basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar gave this character some advice about the game and about being a father.

Here’s what we know about the Full House episode with this guest star.

Uncle Jesse worked in advertising and on the radio. He had a passion for music and was unapologetically bad at most sports. During the “Air Jesse” episode of Full House, DJ and Kimmy had their own basketball teams compete for charity. Uncle Jesse was embarrassed to admit he couldn’t play basketball, but he still agreed to help his niece.

While practicing at his local basketball court, he met another basketball player. That was Abdul-Jabbar, who offered pointers to the musician. Together, they even learned about his “sweet spot.”

As an expert musician and a rookie basketball fan, Uncle Jesse had no idea who he was talking to. It wasn’t until the actual game began that this character realized he was actually the celebrity coach for the charity game.

Thanks to some coaching from this basketball legend, Uncle Jesse made his sons proud. This wouldn’t be the first time Uncle Jesse struggled with a sport for the sake of his family. When Jesse and Joey were still working in advertising, Joey had to teach his business partner how to play golf.

During the “Nice Guys Finish First” episode of this sitcom, Uncle Jesse went to the ice rink with the rest of the Tanners. After falling several times, he was tasked with announcing Joey’s charity game that night. He struggled until Aunt Becky jumped in to help.

Although Uncle Jesse struggled with his basketball skills, in the original Disney+ series, Big Shot, his character was a basketball coach. He went from coaching college games to an all-girl high school, which came with plenty of its own challenges.
