‘Full House’: The Olsen Twins Are Not Identical Twins; They Call Their Relationship’ A Marriage and a Partnership’
The Olsen Twins took the world by storm in the late ’80s and early ’90s with their role as Michelle Tanner on Full House. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen also branched out into movies and other TV shows as the adorable set of twins. However, as alike as they seem, they are not identical twins.
John Stamos tried to get the Olsen twins fired from ‘Full House’
“We love the twins, but is there any way you can find babies who are a little more comfortable on stage?” Justin Gaston said as John Stamos in The Unauthorized Full House Story.
When the 2015 Lifetime movie came out, fans were not sure what to believe. The film showed many unbelievable things that happened behind the scenes on the set of Full House. However, one true thing was that Stamos encouraged the producers to bring in a new set of twins.
“It’s sort of true that the Olsen twins cried a lot,” Stamos told critics at the Television Critics Association’s press tour via People. “It was very difficult to get the shot. So I [said], ‘Get them out … !’ That is actually 100 percent accurate.”
So, the producers hired a different set of twins to portray Michelle. It was short-lived.
“They brought in a couple of unattractive redheaded kids,” Stamos continued. “We tried that for a while, and that didn’t work. [Producers] were like, all right, get the Olsen twins back. And that’s the story.”
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are not identical twins
The Olsen twins still work together on their various fashion brands. However, they like to point out that they are two separate people. They are fraternal twins, not identical, as people usually assume since they look so much alike.
“It’s been 32 years of learning how to communicate,” Ashley explained to the Wall Street Journal. She believes their relationship is “a marriage and a partnership. We have had ups and downs.”
They do not like it when people feel that the twins are interchangeable. They lead separate lives with different personalities and are ever sensitive to references about their childhood career. In 2018, they also contemplated living on separate coasts. Ashley considered moving back to Los Angeles, California, leaving Mary-Kate in New York.
However, the change did not happen. Both women still live in New York City.
Who are Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen married to?
On May 14, 2020, a judge denied Mary-Kate’s request for an emergency divorce filing, according to TMZ. She filed during the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown in New York City, so the courts were not accepting filings at the time.
Mary-Kate was attempting to save her belongings from husband Pierre Olivier Sarkozy. She alleges that he terminated her lease without her knowing. She had until May 18 to remove her things from the apartment.
Ashley is currently dating a 31-year-old artist, Louis Eisner. The two have been photographed together several times.
