Princess Beatrice will be uniting two of Europe’s most senior families when she ties the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi this May. Edoardo’s ancestry goes back centuries and has ties to Italian nobility, which means the Princess of York will be receiving some new titles after her wedding. While Beatrice will be able to use the styles “Contessa” and “Nobile Donna,” she has actually never met her future father-in-law, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi.

Edoardo’s father opens up about his son’s wedding

The royal family has remained relatively quiet about Princess Beatrice’s upcoming nuptials. But after months of silence, Edoardo’s father recently spoke about his son’s May wedding.

In a lengthy statement, Alessandro revealed that Princess Beatrice will be able to use the titles “Contessa” and “Nobile Donna,” which means noblewoman, once she exchanges vows with his son.

He also revealed that the couple will inherit his family’s villa in northern Italy called the Villa Mapelli Mozzi. The estate was built in the 18th century and features nine bedrooms. It is located about an hour away from Milan and has been used as the family’s summer residence.

It is unclear if the Princess of York will actually use her Italian titles after she is married, but royal watchers cannot wait to see her tie the knot in a few months.

Inside Princess Beatrice’s wedding

Beatrice and Edoardo are set to exchange vows on May 29 inside The Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace. Queen Elizabeth will host a private reception at Buckingham Palace following the ceremony.

The Royal Chapel only has seating for 150 people, so the guest list will likely be fairly short. The top members of the royal family are fully expected to attend, including Princess Beatrice’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and her sister, Princess Eugenie.

The royals have not revealed anything else about the wedding, though more details will be released as we get closer to the big day. This includes which royals will actually attend the ceremony.

As far as his family is concerned, there will plenty of notable individuals present to support Edoardo. The Mozzis have quite a few accomplished people in their family, including 15 judges, eight ambassadors, 29 lawyers, two bishops, and five doctors.

Princess Beatrice has never met Count Alessandro

While Beatrice is very excited about marrying Edoardo, she has never formally met his father. According to Daily Mail, Alessandro admitted that he and Princess Beatrice have never been acquainted, though he did say that he is looking forward to the wedding.

“They are very suited to each other and have known each other for a long time,” Alessandro shared. “I’ve never seen him so happy.”

It is unclear why Beatrice and Alessandro have not met, though that will probably change in the weeks leading up to the wedding.

Apart from his ties to Italian nobility, Alessandro represented Britain at the Winter Olympics in 1972. He actually crossed paths with Princess Beatrice’s mother during the games, though she was dating Paddy McNally, not Prince Andrew, at the time.

Although Andrew was forced to step away from his royal duties a few months ago, he is expected to make an appearance at the wedding. The royals, however, will likely keep his public appearance to a minimum to avoid any further scandals.

Princess Beatrice opens up about her upcoming wedding

Beatrice and Edoardo announced their engagement on social media last fall. Since then, the couple has remained relatively quiet about their union, at least as far as the public is concerned.

The Princess of York apparently sent handwritten letters to a few fans who congratulated her on the wedding, and one of those notes was recently shared on social media.

“Thank you so much for thinking of us after the engagement,” the letter read. “It is so kind of you to wish us happiness for the future. We are so excited to get married and begin our life together. With our very best wishes – Beatrice, Edo.”

The letter featured Princess Beatrice’s monogram above the message and an adorable photo of her and Edoardo on the back. Unfortunately, the card did not reveal anything new about the upcoming wedding, so fans will have to wait a little longer to find out about the latest development.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo dated for at least a year before their engagement in September, though they reportedly knew each other for years before things got romantic. Although fans would love to tune in to their wedding, it is not expected to be televised.
