Gage Edward Responds After Jeff Lewis of ‘Flipping Out’ Jokes About Their Custody Battle As He Recovers From Neck Surgery
Jeff Lewis has a pretty dark sense of humor. The star of Bravo’s Flipping Out is in the hospital recovering from neck surgery, but he still found the energy to take a jab at his ex Gage Edward. The pair have been involved in a custody battle over their daughter Monroe since they split in early 2019. But Edward seems to be taking it all in stride, based on his response to Lewis’s post.

During a recent episode of his SiriusXM radio show Jeff Lewis Live, the reality TV star and design expert revealed he has a condition called cervical myelopathy. It affects his spinal cord and can get “progressively worse,” he said, so his doctor suggested surgery.
“There is a disc actually in my neck that’s pushing against my spinal cord and has bruised my spinal cord, which has caused nerve damage,” Lewis explained, according to Us Weekly. He added that the condition was giving him lower back pain and causing issues with his balance.

The surgery took place Aug. 26 and Lewis seems to be doing well. The next day, he even got a dig in an Edward, sharing a doctored image of himself in the hospital bed while Edward yanked a plug from the wall. “It’s Monroe Edwards now, b*tch,” read the text in a voice bubble.
“Thanks for all the support,” Lewis captioned the post.
The post was a nod to Lewis and Edward’s ongoing dispute over custody of their 3-year-old daughter. Earlier this year, Edward requested a legal change to their child’s name from Monroe Christine Lewis to Monroe Christine Edward Lewis, according to Bravo’s Daily Dish. He also wants a 50-50 custody split and financial support.

Lewis and Edward — who were together for eight years prior to their breakup — definitely appear to have a not-so-great relationship at the moment. But that didn’t stop Edward from jabbing back at his ex on Instagram in what some commenters saw as a relatively good-natured way
“I’ve been looking for that [plug] for a while,” Edward commented on Lewis’s post.
Many fans took the comment as a sign that the two are at least able to see the humor in their situation.
“Thanks for not taking this seriously and being able to laugh at it,” one person wrote in response to Edward’s comment. “Very cool of you. All in good fun, we know Jeff loves to push buttons for kicks.”
“Please, please continue to joke with each other, this was hilarious,” another wrote. “It will be sooo much better to enjoy Monroe and her shenanigans — you both will be healthier and she will flourish.”
