Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke had never done nude scenes before she landed the role of Daenerys Targaryen. But she was a pro by the time the series ended its eight-season run. Clarke has opened up numerous times about her experience with nudity on the GOT set. While describing one of her scenes during an appearance on the Graham Norton Show, Clarke’s description had fellow guest Matt LeBlanc asking “how you doin?”

Emilia Clarke wanted to be ‘professional’ on the ‘Game of Thrones’ set

Clarke revealed on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that she had never done nudity before the GOT pilot. However, her scene partner, Jason Momoa, had experience in the area.

Clarke says that Momoa guided her through the process and told her how things were supposed to be. She says he made sure she had a robe in between takes. Clarke describes Momoa as “kind and considerate,” and says he cared about her as a human being.

She also discussed the nudity topic in the new book of GOT oral history titled Fire Cannot Kill A Dragon.

“I was so desperate to be the most professional actor I could be that I’d be like, ‘Yeah, sure,’ for anything they threw at me,” Clarke said. “I’ll just cry about it in the bathroom later, whatever, you won’t know.”

Clarke says that her first season had a lot of “tough days.” She revealed that before the show hired an intimacy coordinator, she had to fight to make sure “the sheet stays up.”

The ‘Game of Thrones’ star says she wouldn’t change a thing

Clarke admits that she still gets flak for all of the nude and sex scenes she did in Game of Thrones. But, she insists she wouldn’t change a thing. None of those scenes were to shock the audience. Instead, they all moved the story forward.

The 33-year-old actress says she really embraced the nude scenes. For example, when she emerged from the burning temple during season 6, naked and unburned. According to Express, Clarke said that she just wanted to come out and do an empowered scene that wasn’t sexual, but naked and strong.

Clarke also revealed that she gets most of the flak from other females, and she believes that is “so anti-feminist.” The actress said that women hating on other women is a problem, and it’s “upsetting.”

While many actors on Game of Thrones bared all on camera, the majority were female. Clarke once told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show that she would like to see “junk equality.” She says if she can get naked on camera, so can “the boys.”

Emilia Clarke’s description of one nude scene had Matt LeBlanc asking ‘How you doin’?’

When Clarke appeared on The Graham Norton Show in 2016 alongside Friends alum Matt LeBlanc, she jokingly confessed that she’s not really like The Mother Of Dragons in real life. Clarke said that her parents were concerned about her taking the role, but not because of the nudity.

She explained that her parents didn’t think she had a big part because she was barely in the first few episodes. However, she says she encouraged them to watch the season 6 episode “Book of the Stranger.” But in hindsight, she realizes that wasn’t the best episode to choose.

That is the episode where Daenerys emerges from the burning temple fully nude. Previously in the conversation, LeBlanc admitted he hadn’t seen Game of Thrones. When Clarke described “Book of the Stranger,” Norton advised the Friends star that it would be a good episode for him to “dip into.”

“I could really see how you’re doing,” LeBlanc told Clarke, which caused her to laugh.
