‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel, ‘House of Dragon’ Releases Photos of New Dragons
More news is being released about one of the Game of Thrones prequels that is being made. House of Dragon will focus on the fighting within the Targaryen family. Of course, this will involve dragons and fans got an early look at them.
‘House of Dragon’ will focus on the Targaryens
The Targaryens significantly affected the other kingdoms because they ruled for some time. Their power long ago came from having dragons. But that all ended when Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) led a rebellion.
The prequel, House of Dragon, will take place many years before the events in Game of Thrones. The story will be based on Fire & Blood, which tells the story of the rise and fall of House Targaryen.
This show will have ten episodes. George R. R. Martin and Ryan Codal will help a team of writers. Martin wrote about the making of the show in his blog, George R. R. Martin.
“HOUSE OF THE DRAGON has been in development for several years (though the title has changed a couple of times during that process),” he wrote. “It was actually the first concept I pitched to HBO when we started talking about a successor show, way back in the summer of 2016.”
He continued, “If you’d like to know a bit more of what the show will be about… well, I can’t actually spill those beans, but you might want to pick up a copy of two anthologies I did with Gardner Dozois, DANGEROUS WOMEN and ROGUES, and then move on to Archmaester Gyldayn’s history, FIRE & BLOOD.”
We got a look at the new dragons
The Twitter account for Game of Thrones released two photos to fans on Dec. 3. One of them is a full body drawing of a dragon. The second is a closeup picture of a dragon’s face.
The tweet is captioned with “Dragons are coming. #HouseoftheDragon begins production in 2021.” Some fans had questions about what the new show will cover and the person running the account answered.
“Game of Thrones’ spinoff set roughly 150 years before the events of the show. It’s shaping up to lead right into the Dance of the Dragons — The Targaryen Civil War,” read the tweet.
The post seems to be getting mixed reactions from fans. Some people are looking forward to the new show. Other fans don’t seem to have faith in the new series after how the original show ended.
King Viserys Targaryen has been cast
Only one cast member has been revealed to be in the show. Paddy Considine will play King Viserys Targaryen. The actor recently played Mr. Martin in the HBO show, The Third Day.
It looks like casting is either keeping things a secret still, or has a long way to go to form the rest of the cast. Luckily, fans are getting to know some of the biggest aspects of the upcoming show early.
