‘Game of Thrones’ Star Rose Leslie Admits She Is Responsible for Almost Ruining 1 of Kit Harington’s Most Famous Features
Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie and her husband, Kit Harington, have had a very productive quarantine in 2020. The couple has been renovating their 15th century Tudor farmhouse in Suffolk, England. They also bought a new “pandemic whippet puppy.” But most importantly, the couple has revealed that they are expecting their first child. Like many other couples around the world, Leslie and Harington had to rely on themselves when it came to haircuts. But when she tried to give Harington a trim, she admits that she accidentally shaved his head.
Rose Leslie finally speaks out about expecting her first baby
As The Evening Standard notes, Leslie and Harington didn’t make an official pregnancy announcement. Instead, they took a more subtle approach via a magazine photoshoot. Leslie was recently on the cover of Make magazine. When she posed for pics, the actress showed off her baby bump while wearing a black Stella McCartney gown.
She didn’t even mention her pregnancy during the interview. But, when fashion editor Ursula Lake posted the pic on Instagram, she leaked the news in her caption. Lake wrote that it was wonderful working with Leslie and capturing her in photographs “as she prepares for motherhood for the first time.”
In late October, Leslie finally spoke publicly for the first time about her pregnancy.
“I am thrilled to be expecting, and I can’t wait to meet the new member of our family,” she told The New York Post.
The mom-to-be also revealed how difficult it was to potty train their new puppy. Leslie said that if the pandemic hadn’t forced them to stay behind their front door, things would’ve been much worse. Leslie says they couldn’t have properly trained her or make sure she “didn’t poop all over the house.”
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star made a big mistake when she tried to give Kit Harington a trim
During that New York Post interview, Leslie also revealed that she made a “hilarious” yet “awful” mistake during the quarantine. The 33-year-old confessed that when she was giving Harington a trim, she accidentally shaved his head.
“I was on FaceTime [with] a friend at the time,” Leslie explained. “He was like, ‘Can you do the back, because I can’t see it with the mirror?’ And I was so engrossed with my girlfriend, we were having such a lovely time, and I was like, ‘Yeah yeah yeah, fine, whatever.'”
The right-handed Leslie noted that she had the phone in her right hand and the shears in her left. Instead of switching the shears to her dominant hand, Leslie took a chance by cutting with her left.
“I dug too deep! It was rather hilarious, but also awful,” she said. “Fortunately, he looks great with a semi-shaved head, so it was fine.”
As fans know, Harington is known for his iconic curly hair after playing Jon Snow on Game of Thrones for eight seasons. And as Sharp magazine notes, many consider him to be one of the best-looking guys in Hollywood. But Harington calls the attention on his external appearance an “occupational hazard.”
Kit Harington doesn’t understand why ‘Game of Thrones’ fans care about his hair
Harington’s long curls arguably gave Jon Snow the finest hair in the Seven Kingdoms. The cut and style managed to make the character look masculine and “bad ass.” But, Harington just doesn’t understand the fascination.
“It constantly causes me wonderment that people get so interested in my hair,” Harington said.
Despite his lack of understanding, Harington did give tips for how to get the look. Of course, having naturally curly hair is the first step.
“The longer it’s left without doing much washing, the better. That is the secret. Honestly, if you want medieval hair, that’s how you do it,” Harington explained.
The actor also has the help of a professional stylist. His Game of Thrones on-set hair designer, Kevin Alexander, mixed wax and putty and scrunched it into Harington’s hair. The actor said his friends call the process of pushing the curls up “juzzing.”
However, by the time Game of Thrones came to an end, Harington was ready to cut it off because the studio wouldn’t let him cut it past a certain length for nearly a decade.
He said in 2017, “I’m waiting for that next part to come along where I can cut the damn stuff off. It’ll be a weird but brilliant feeling.”
