Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Reveal Their Most Important Christmas Tradition
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood’s packed touring schedule makes it difficult for them to find time around the holidays. But the country music superstars still enjoy one Christmas tradition in their household every year. Here is a look at the couple’s most important tradition for the holidays.
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood reveal their top Christmas tradition
Although Brooks and Yearwood do not get to spend the entire holiday season with their family, they always make sure they are home to decorate the Christmas tree. Even though their children are all grown up and spread out, they still manage to meet up for the yearly event.
“The biggest tradition we’ve done since the girls were little is to decorate the tree together, and even though we are all in different places and the girls are grown, that is still a tradition,” Yearwood shared.
According to The Boot, Yearwood added that the timing of the Christmas tree decoration varies every year. Because all of their children live in different places, sometimes they decorate the tree over Thanksgiving and other times they do it right before Christmas Eve.
No matter what, Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks always find time to string up lights and put ornaments on the family tree — but they are not the driving force behind the tradition. Instead, Brooks’ daughters — whom he shares with his ex-wife, Sandy — ensure that everyone sticks to the tradition.
Brooks’ children keep the tradition alive
Yearwood went on to explain how all of the girls, Taylor, August, and Allie, did not enjoy decorating the Christmas tree when they were younger. But as they grew older, it became a lot more important to all of them.
“And the girls, when they were little — I know we’re all the same way, but [there are] things your parents do when you’re a kid that you’re like, ‘Ugh, why are we doing this?’ As you get older, it becomes important to you,” she stated.
Yearwood admitted that she probably would have let the tradition die out a long time ago if it were not for the girls. But every year, they wrangle the family together and make sure everyone is there to decorate the tree.
We do not know when they managed to come together to decorate the tree this year, but it is great to know that they share Christmas traditions just like the rest of us.
Considering how busy Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks are over the holidays, it is a small miracle that they make time for their favorite Christmas tradition. In fact, the two have released several albums over the holidays, which no doubt takes a lot of time away from their family.
Yearwood opens up about Christmas duet album
A few years ago, Yearwood and Brooks teamed up for a duet album titled Christmas Together. The project was the couple’s first joint effort, though it was not Yearwood’s first holiday-themed album.
Even still, Trisha Yearwood loved working with Garth Brooks on the tracks and thought that they both brought something new to the table.
“What I really loved is that Garth and I had kind of a different concept of a duet album, where we did a lot of duets together, but we also did songs that were just him or just me,” she explained. “So I liked that, on this album, all of that could kind of live together.”
For Yearwood, the key to producing an amazing Christmas record is combining individual style with traditional sounds. When she started working on the album, Yearwood did not think people would be interested in hearing her version of Christmas classics, like “Jingle Bells.”
But the more she thought about it, she started to realize that people do want to hear variations of their favorite songs. So she and Garth Brooks really went after it and combined some traditional songs with a few modern tracks.
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are all about family
While Yearwood and Brooks stay plenty busy touring the country throughout the year, they still make plenty of time for their family. The couple tied the knot 14 years ago and usually celebrate their wedding anniversary with their family.
In fact, Garth Brooks recently revealed that Yearwood exchanged rings with his three daughters when they got married. So every year, the entire family gathers to celebrate the anniversary as a group of five.
Brooks explained how they typically go out to eat and everyone usually has a great time together. He also made it sound like Yearwood and his daughters have a super tight bond, which really makes for a healthy marriage all around.
This holiday season, Yearwood is promoting her most recent song, “Every Girl in This Town.” The track is very close to breaking the Top 25 on the country music charts, which just adds a little more success to her amazing career.
Now if we could get Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks to release another Christmas album together we would really be set.
