‘General Hospital’ Comings and Goings: All the Cute Kids Hit the Canvas!
The nice thing about General Hospital is that even its child stars are legendary. When they hit the canvas, everyone sits up and takes notice. And on this week’s comings and goings news roundup, all the children — some of whom are adults now — are hitting the canvas again.
Lexi Ainsworth returns to ‘General Hospital’
The big bit of news is, of course, the return of Lexi Ainsworth to the General Hospital canvas. The Daytime Emmy winner may be better known for her role as Amber in the hit Showtime dark comedy, Shameless, but she really got her start in Hollywood when she hit Port Charles for the first time.
Ainsworth originated the role of Kristina Corinthos-Davis — the daughter of Sonny and his former attorney, Alexis. And she recently announced on her Instagram page that she was returning to the role she made famous all those years ago.
“Reunited,” she captioned the photo with a floating heart emoji. In the photo was none other than her on-screen papa, Maurice Benard.
She originated her role when she was a child
The role of Kristina was rapidly aged by General Hospital executives in 2009, and that’s when Ainsworth stepped into the role. She won a Daytime Emmy for the role in 2011, but abruptly left the show just one year later, according to Soaps.com. For a brief time, Lindsey Morgan — who can currently be seen on Walker — stepped into the role, but Ainsworth came back to the canvas in 2015.
With Ainsworth in the role, Kristina explored themes like bisexuality, teen dating abuse, and other themes that were considered controversial. But the outlet has a bit of a different take. “You may recall that, during the early 2010s, Walker’s Lindsay Morgan stepped in and, for a brief, weird moment, Kristina became a reality-TV star. Ainsworth tapped back in in 2015, setting the stage for Kristina’s coming out and that unfortunate incident that found her joining Shiloh’s cult,” they reported.
It’s not clear when General Hospital will air the episodes featuring Kristina. However, fans can’t wait to see her in the role that she made famously.
Other ‘GH’ comings and goings
Ainsworth isn’t the only child star (who is now an adult, no less!) that’s returning to the General Hospital canvas in the coming days. According to SoapHub, there’s a new Rocco Falconieri in town. Brady Bauer will be assuming the role that O’Neill Monahan first made famous.
In non-child star news, Parry Shen’s rumored appearance was confirmed this week. He’ll be seen as Brad Cooper, while Lydia Look will be seen as Selina Wu, Brad’s aunt, and much-feared crime boss. Look for the happy family to be seen on the December 9 episode of the show.
And finally, of course, fans are gearing up for the legendary ladies of General Hospital to hit the canvas. Kristina Wagner and Genie Francis are mainstays on the show, and fans can’t wait to see them again.
